Oakley POV

*September 8 2014*

"He what?!" exclaims Mara, as we walk to English.

"Right here," I say pointing to my lips.

"Well, I didn't see that coming." She whispers, before sitting in her seat.

Today I decided to wear long mint green striped sweater, skinny jeans and black army-ish boots. My curly dark auburn hair is in a messy braided bun. Mara went with a brown dress with small flowers on it, a long open knitted sweater and boots.

"Me too." I say taking my seat beside her.

Then out of nowhere she starts laughing.

"You kicked him in the crotch," she giggles, taking out her notebook, as the class starts.

 ....................

My last class before lunch is math, which happens to be the one class Mara and I don't have together. Scooting into my seat, I'm sharpening my pencil when someone sits beside me. My body stiffens. This isn't right, I think. I pick this seat specifically so no one would sit beside me. Slowly I turn my head to see Logan. No, no, no! I think, wishing I could be somewhere, anywhere but here.

Ten minutes pass, nothing happens. Then, just when I think I could make it through this class without any embarrassing event or memories of Friday being relived, the teacher (Mrs. Kane, lovely teacher) has to go get something from the office. That's when the awkward, peace is disturbed.

"So, Oakley. Hear you're a rocking kisser." says Bart Garfield (one of Logan's good friends) who turns around to face me. My cheeks go red and I sink into my chair as everyone (that's 30 eyes by the way) are on me.

Earth you can swallow me.

Now!

"Dude!" says angrily Logan.

Just as I'm about to burst out crying, or burn up considering my cheeks feel like there on fire, the bell rings and I burst out the door. Quickly stuffing everything in my locker, I head out to the courtyard as far back as I can go and hide under a big oak.

If you guys haven't notice, I am extremely anxious.

"Don't panic. Don't panic." I chant while rocking back and forth. My phone goes off and I pick it up.

"Hello?" I sniffle.

"Ley, where are you?" asks Mara, "There's a big fight between Landan and Char...are you crying?"

I take a deep breath before answering.

"I'm fine. I'll be there in a couple minutes."

It's quiet for a couple minutes.

"Ok, if you're sure. I'll buy you a lunch." She says, not completely believing me.

"Thanks." I mumble, before hanging up.

After a few more deep breaths, I wipe the few tears that escaped with my sleeve. After giving  myself a quick pep talk, I head to the courtyard.

Seeing Mara, Gwen and some other guy at our table, I walk up and take a seat. There's a chorus of greetings, as Mara gives me some sort of wrap and an iced tea.

"So what was this I hear about Landon and Charlotte?" I ask, putting on a fake smile before taking a bite out of my wrap.

"Well..." starts Mara, her eyes light up as she start her story. This will be good, I think, taking a sip of my drink.
