"Mom! Dad! I'm home!" Jasmine shouted. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the lack of response from her parents.
Then as she walked into the room she screamed out of fear at the sight before her.
She saw her parents both dead, and a man feeding off of them. The man's lips were red, and the red was dripping down his lips. The vampire rushed to Jasmine and attempted to attack Jasmine.
But before he could, he heard a sound outside and rushed out of the room, leaving Jasmine with her dead parents on the floor. Jasmine then rushed over to her parents. After she kneeled by her parents, Jasmine saw something which she would only see in fairytales. She had plants growing around herself and her parents. Jasmine continued to sob.
That was what the police had come to see. A girl crying out of despair for the death of her parents, and a group of flowers surrounding them.
No one knew what had really happened except for Jasmine and her Nana. The sight was so confusing to the police and there were no leads for the case, so the case was closed. The rumors kept flying that Jasmine was the one who killed her parents, that everyone was just protecting her.
Then, one-day Jasmine's Nana forced Jasmine to sit down and discuss what they have to do for her.
" Honey, you can go live with your cousin Sam if you want." Her Nana Rose stated. Jasmine still had not had the courage to tell her Nana Rose about what happened about the sight that she saw. More specifically of the plans which ground her. Then, with a burst of courage Jasmine asked,
"Nana, why can I do this?"
Jasmine asked. As she asked this she started to grow a plant on her hand, and Nana rose looked indifferent from what was being shown to her. Instead, she smiled and said,
"Hon, you need to understand our ancestry to know what is going on," Nana Rose said.
Nana Rose dragged Jasmine outside, and they sat down on a patch of grass, Jasmine waiting for her Nana to start speaking.
"This story goes back almost 1000 years ago. When humanity was beginning to come together and form what do you know today. It was a time in which those who had powers were thriving in society. Until the day when people started to fear those with these gifts. One of those people was one of our ancestors. She was gifted with powers to help nature and to undo what humanity had done so far to nature. One day people began to fear what she was capable of. Thye said that she was no longer needed that her powers were something to be feared in reality they were something beautiful. She and her husband had to rush and leave the village hiding the wife's powers for their entire lives. That is a secret from my mother side of the family. Our side. It is something that is only passed down to the woman of our family," Nana spoke.
"Why do you think every woman in our family is named after a flower? It's for this reason," Nana Rose finished with a smile.
Jasmine questioned,
"Why me? Why now?" Jasmine asked.
"These powers are connected to every part of nature. Thus, they're connected to every basic emotion that you have. I think when your parents died, and," Jasmine looked away and had tears in her eyes,
"The way that you saw them caused your powers to push themselves out based on how emotional you were that day," Nana Rose finished. Jasmine silently sobbing to herself by being reminded of her parents who had passed.
"What do I do Nana?" Jasmine questioned.
"As I said before, it's time for you to go live with your cousin, Sam Uley. It's time for you to move to La Push," Nana Rose finished.
Jasmine never knew that by moving to La Push, she would have the adventure of a lifetime.
