Jasmine and Jacob had still not discussed the kiss, in fear of heartbreak. They didn't know what to do and how to move on from that gesture. During the week, there had been a scent that the wolves had never smelt before; all they knew was that it was a vampire.
"Billy, we need to talk. Is Jake also here?" Sam questioned.
"Yeah, Sam, what do you need?" Jacob asked. Sam sat down and gestured for Jacob to sit as well.
"We have a leech problem. This time it's not the Cullens, it's someone that I have never smelt before," Sam started. At this time, all that Jacob could think of was the safety of Jasmine. This could mean that he would have to reveal himself sooner than he thought.
"This leech tried to come to my house Jake, he was close to my home, he was close to Emily," Sam said. Jacob tensed at the fact that a leech was close enough to hurt his imprint.
"What should we do Sam?" Billy stated.
Sam looked deep in thought, looking down at one place in concentration.
"We need to increase patrol, and someone needs to stay with Jasmine and Emily at all times. Do you want to do it, Jacob?" Sam question. Jacob thought about it and replied,
"Yes I will, but only for a couple of days, we can do a rotation with you and I. Since it is our imprints which are at risk," Jacob stated. Billy smiled in pride and said to Jacob,
"Spoken like a true alpha," causing Jacob to look at the ground and smiled. Jacob and Sam discussed when they would guard their imprints, and in the end, they had come to an agreement.
"Okay, so I'm gonna head to your house now. Good luck," Jacob said. As he left, Jacob heard a howl from the forest, that gave him the indication that the patrol was starting.
Eventually, Jacob made it to Sam's house, and he saw Jasmine outside planting flowers. She seemed content, as though she had no problems in this world, no clue of the shadows which lurked around her. What Jacob had not known was that Jasmine was using her powers to help the plants in their growth — being careful. She knew that she needed to protect her secret as best as she could, and she intended to protect it for as long as she can.
"Hey, Jasmine!" Jacob said as he approached the house. Jasmine jumped and moved her hands away from the soil, turning her body around to see Jacob approaching her.
"Hey, Jacob, what are you doing here?" Jasmine nervously asked. Worried that maybe he had seen her use her powers, though he gave no indication that he had.
"I'm just visiting for a bit," Jacob replied quickly. Jasmine stood up in front of Jacob and then smiled, turning towards the house. Jacob hovered his hand on her back, and Jasmine's hand pushed his hand to hold her back.
With that, Jacob and Jasmine walked into the house with content smiles on their faces.
