"In spite of all the danger / In spite of all that may be," sang Paul.

We were at lunch the next day and I was watching as George and Paul scribbled down some song lyrics onto a ragged writing pad. I watched in fascination, feeling like I could see their thoughts written in the clouds.

"Whatcha think of that?" George asked me.

I jerked out of a trance. "It's good," I said.

He smiled. "I'm glad you think so."

"How'd you come up with it?" I asked.

Paul shrugged. "They just sound good together."

George whispered something to Paul, to which Paul responded with a choked laugh. I looked at them skeptically.

"Makes sense," Paul said aloud, taking me in.

"What does?" I asked.

"Nothing," replied George.

I eyed him suspiciously. "Why won't you tell me?" I whined.

"Because," he replied mockingly.

I frowned.

"We've got a rehearsal today," said Paul. "Wanna tag along?"

I was taken slightly aback.

What was wrong with them?

"I—uh—sure?"

Paul grinned. "Perfect."

I shook my head, confused. The school bell dinged overhead. George's shoulders slouched and his head fell back with a groan. I stood, gathering my things. Paul went to leave.

"See ye later," he said as he left.

"See ye, Paul," George grumbled.

"Ready?" I asked George as he stood and dragged his feet towards the building.

"No," he responded pitifully.

I grinned at him.

"So where are we going exactly?" I asked as we were leaving the school.

"Paul's," George replied. "That's where we rehearse."

"Ah, alright, so, you're just gonna show up to Paul's with someone his family has never met? Won't they be, I don't know, alarmed?"

Paul shook his head. "Neh, I show up with new people often." He shrugged.

Paul smirked. George rolled his eyes. I raised my eyebrows. "Ah, okay."

"So, is that all you'll tell me? Where does Paul live exactly?"

"So many questions," Paul blurted, his head falling back.
