Christmas Shopping - Freddie

Freddie had insisted that we went out Christmas shopping together, which was great, but I was in a bit of a predicament.

Freddie is so difficult to buy for! You would've thought that 4 years of marriage means present buying gets easier. Well, it doesn't. The most annoying part though, is that Freddie always buys the perfect present for me. He doesn't help with the situation either, when I ask him what he wants he simply says,

"I don't need a present, I have you" which is very sweet of him but it makes me feel bad. I mean, I'm not as good as a diamond necklace! Far from a bunch of red roses! Sometimes I feel like I'm not enough for Freddie and that he deserves better. He is a star and I'm just...well I'm just me.

"Come on Fred. I want a proper answer" I said seriously

"Darling, I have all that I need, I don't want anything" Freddie wrapped his arm around my shoulders as we walked side by side

"But you have to have something on Christmas, it's the rules" I sighed

"Fine, if I see something, I'll be sure to tell you" Freddie kissed my temple as we walked into a big shop

"Alright" I rubbed his back

We walked straight over to the clothes section of the store. It seemed like there were rails going on for miles, filled with any type of clothing you could possibly think of.

"Darling I want to buy you a dress for Christmas. You could wear it to the New Years party that Roger is planning! It's going to be spectacular!!" Freddie's eyes lit up at the mere mention of a party

"Ok, I could do with a new dress. Which ones should I try?" I brushed my fingertips over the various fabrics

"Whatever takes your fancy" Freddie shrugged

I scooped up many different styles and coloured dresses. Some were long and flowed, some were short and poofy. Some were many colours, some were plain. Some were glitzy, some were lacey. Basically I picked up every dress I remotely liked.

"Freddie where are the changing rooms?" I asked

"Uh, just over here my love" Freddie guides me to the area, "I'm just out here on this seat" he smiled as he watched me close the curtain behind me

I took my clothes off and pulled on a teal, silk dress. It was very comfy but as I looked into the mirror I couldn't help but feel like it didn't suit me. I decided to show Freddie, he's always brutally honest and is the king of fashion anyway.

"Freddie, what do you think?" I quizzed

"Darling you know I think you are the most beautiful thing in the world, that dress just isn't up to the same standard as you" He moved his hands around as spoke

"You hate it" I added

"No- I-" he stuttered

"I hate it too, don't worry" I gave him a smile

"Alright, try another" he leaned back in his chair

I shut the curtains and picked out a deep purple dress. It was kind of velvety to the touch. It was short and skinny too, not typically a style I would go for.

"Freddie?" I got his attention and did a bit of a twirl to show him

"I love you very much dear but that dress doesn't really suit you. You look best in glamorous ball gowns! I won't lie, you look like a literature teacher" Freddie stifled a giggle

"I see what you mean. It's not that comfy anyway" I said before turning my heals and going back behind the curtains.

I then tried on a white dress, it was frilly at the bottom and quite bold. It had jewels on the sleeves that glimmered in the light.

"Dearest, are you done?" Freddie called out

"Yep, just a second" and, true to my word, I came out of the dressing room

"You look stunning dear" Freddie's jaw dropped

"Thanks" I blushed, "but I can feel a 'but' coming"

"It's perfect for our wedding, if we were to marry again. But it's a New Years party, and you are bound to spill something over yourself" Freddie grinned

"I'll try another" I sighed

I turned back to the changing room and got myself out of the dress. I stood there in my underwear, trying to pick what dress to try next.

"Knock knock" Freddie waltzed in

"Freddie!" I whisper-yelled, "you can't be in here!"

"Says who? Anyway, I found the perfect dress for you. Please try" He spoke softly

We were centimetres from each other in the cramped dressing room.

"I'll only try it if I get a kiss" I smirked

"Are those the terms? So easy!" He rolled his eyes before placing a kiss on my lips

"Now get out of here, I need to put something on" I slapped his shoulder playfully

Freddie snuck out of the dressing room. I took a look at the dress. It was black and had jewels along the neckline. It had a lacey bit of fabric around the waist and the skirt part itself was silky and shiny.

I pulled it on and it felt like a dream. Nothing had ever fit this well and it looked so beautiful. I really hope Freddie likes it because I've fallen too hard to give this dress up now.

I stepped out of the dressing room and watched Freddie's face as he laid eyes on me. His eyes were bright and full of love, his mouth was absentmindedly agape, and he had a small smirk pulled on his lips.

"How about this?" I smiled

"Wow. Just wow." Freddie looked like he was close to tears

"I'm in love with it!" I did a little dance

"That's what I want for Christmas. I'm going to wrap you up!" With that, Freddie hugged me by the waist and picked me up, squeezing me slightly

"No, I said you need something to open for Christmas!" I defended

"Well I could do that too" Freddie whispered with a wink

"Get your mind out of the gutter Mercury" I wagged my finger in front of his nose

"You look divine my love" Freddie kissed my cheek
