Nativity - Freddie

Freddie was a great dad. To be honest I was worried about what kind of father he would be. All that time I was worrying but I really didn't need to. As soon as he set eyes on our daughter, Eliza, he changed his ways completely.

Before, he was always out partying with the boys but now he will only party if there was something to celebrate. Before, he didn't really look after himself and now he wants to be around to look after me and Eliza.

Eliza has grown up to look just like her Papa but with my type of hair. You should see our hair in the mornings! Very wild! She is now 5 years old and at primary school. You should've seen everybody's faces when me and Freddie Mercury went to pick her up at the school gates - it was priceless. Of course, Eliza doesn't understand why her Papa is always stopped in the street. She knows her Papa and Uncle's make music but that is as far as she knows. She's always loved to pose for a photo so the paparazzi doesn't phase her at all.

Unfortunately at the moment, Freddie has been very stressed about recording Queen's upcoming album The Works. We've hardly seen him. When he does come home it's near midnight and Eliza is in bed. It always breaks my heart when Eliza asks where her Papa is.

Eliza has her school nativity coming up and she keeps asking if Papa will be there to watch her. I was determined to get Freddie there, I don't care how.

I got into my car and went straight to the place where Freddie was guaranteed to be - the recording studio. I marched into the building and went straight to the corridor that Queen occupied. I found them all in the lounge room.

"Hey y/n how are you?" Brian greeted you

"Very well Brian, thanks" I smiled

"What brings you here my dearest?" Freddie walked up to me and held my hands in his

"You're coming with me Mercury" I began my attempt of dragging him with me but he was too strong

"What do you mean? I've got to record Hammer To Fall" He said

"You've been way to involved in this album Fred! Me and Eliza haven't see you in ages and I just can't do it anymore without you. Every night she asks me when she will see you. Every night I tell he that I don't know. All she wants is for you to see her at her nativity" I raised my voice to add to the seriousness

"Darling I'm sorry. I didn't realise" Freddie was nearly in tears as he gave me a warm hug

"Freddie we could take a break, call it a day" Roger said

"We need more breaks, we've all got families and we can't keep missing so much" Freddie looked down to his feet as he spoke

"We'll come up with a plan" John nodded

"Boys, will you come too?" Freddie asked

"Of course" Roger smiled

"Come on let's go" Brian jumped up and headed for the exit. We all followed behind him.

We all piled into Roger's truck. Of course, Roger was driving. Brian was in the passenger seat because his legs wouldn't fit in the back. I was sat at the back in between Freddie and John. Car journeys with the boys have always been my favourite thing to do, we'd blast the songs on the radio and sing at the top of our lungs. Even Deaky would sing as loud as he possibly could.

We got into the church where the nativity was being held. We were a bit late so everyone looked at us as we walked in. It made me giggle how their faces changed from 'how dare they be late' to 'Oh my lord it's Queen'. Thankfully, we didn't miss the start of the school play.

"Papa made it!!" Eliza shouted

Freddie gave her a wink and blew her a kiss. The boys have her a small wave and I gave her a thumbs up. We had been practising her lines for weeks.

"My little girl is the angel" Freddie states proudly as we sat down at a pew near the back

"Not just any angel, she's the angel Gabriel" I whispered in his ear

"Oh is she now?" Freddie beamed

"She looks so sweet up there Freddie" John spoke quietly as the performance began

"Thank you dear" Freddie smiled at his best friend

The school play went on and eventually it was Eliza's turn to say her lines.

"The baby Jesus has been born!" She hollered

"That's my girl! My angel!" Freddie jumped up and cheered loudly. The boys were all applauding too. The other parents giggled and smiled.

"Freddie sit down" I whispered

He did sit down, but the smile never left his face. He looked immensely proud of his little princess.

The school play was over and Eliza came running up to us.

"Papa! You came! Did you see?" She jumped into Freddie's arms

"Oh I saw my darling! I wouldn't have missed it for the world. You were the most perfect angel up there" Freddie kissed her cheek

"And you brought John, Roger, and Brian! Mama, did you bring them?" Eliza asked excitedly

"We all came in Roger's big truck but yes, I dragged them all here to see you" I chuckled

"High five mate, you were amazing up there" Roger held his hand out which Eliza happily smacked her own hand as hard as she could against it

"You should consider a career as an actress" Brian grinned and Eliza copied his smile

"Uncle John!" Eliza held her arms out to him. Freddie passed her over to the bass player

"What's up trouble?" He smiled

"What did you think?" She quizzed

"I was thinking, how did your Papa create a little angel like you? If you had his genes you would be 100% devil" John joked

"She takes after me" I said

"Sure does" Freddie wrapped his arm around my waist, "Thank you for making me come here, it's meant a lot" He whispered in my ear
