Ice Skating - Freddie

Today was the day. The day that Freddie finally persuaded me to go ice skating with him and the boys. Was I looking forward to it? Well, I was looking forward to spending time with my boyfriend and best friends, but definitely not looking forward to the actual ice skating part.

I had never ice skated before and Freddie considered himself an expert at the winter sport. He would always be down at the rink in the winter months. He would usually go with Roger who also says he is 'almost professional'. This gave me no confidence at all and I didn't want to make a fool of myself. Brian and John said they would help me out if I needed it but to be honest, if they tried to hold on to me I would more than certainly pull them down when I fall.

"Darling whatever's the matter?" Freddie said, pointing out my face like thunder. I was driving us to the ice rink.

"I don't want to go" I stated

"Please just try it once. You might even enjoy yourself. If you don't I'll make it up to you, I swear. I know how upset you are now and I hate myself for making you sad. Please give me a smile?" Freddie said sweetly

How could I say no to that? My heart just melted at his words so I gave him a smile.

"I'm sorry" I muttered

"Don't be. I love you and I think we are all going to have fun" Freddie squeezed my knee

"Love you too Fred" I replied

We arrived at the ice rink and I parked up next to Roger's car. We saw them all sat in there waiting for us. I don't know what the conversation was about in there but I saw Roger howling with laughter, John doubled over with the giggles, and Brian banging his head repeatedly on the back seat.

We walked out to the car park and the boys got out of Roger's car, barely composed from their laughter.

"Might I ask what happened in there?" Freddie spoke up

"I- Brian- ha ha HA!" Roger broke down in laughter again

"Roger asked me how does the man in the moon cut his hair. I told him that there wasn't actually a man living on the moon and it's just a kids fantasy story. But it turned out he was telling a joke" Brian rolled his eyes

"What's the catchline?" I asked

"He- he!" Roger burst into laughter again

"Eclipse it" John giggled a bit but not as much as Roger

"As in 'he clips it'" Brian explained, "Now Roger here thinks it's the funniest thing in the world that I didn't know he was trying to tell a joke"

"Come on darlings" Freddie changed the subject as we could see Brian getting a bit agitated with Roger's childness, "we better get inside"

After getting all of the right equipment we made it out onto the ice. The rink was rather large and their weren't many people here as it was mid-afternoon and most people were at work or school. It was great for me as I had less people to see me fail miserably.

"Race you to the other side!" Roger shouted as he zoomed past us

"It's on Taylor!" Freddie skated off after him

"Thanks Fred" I rolled my eyes sarcastically as I just stood there on the ice, too scared to move in the fear of falling

"I'll help you" John smiled

"I'll go and catch them up so I can have a word with Freddie. He should've stayed with you" Brian shook his head before gliding off to the pair who were already halfway to the other side of the rink

"Thank you John" I grabbed hold of his arm as I stumbled

"Just take it slow" He instructed encouragingly

I put my arm around his back as we wobbled on the ice. He copied and wrapped his arm around me to keep me up.

"I think I'm getting the hang of it" I smiled as my feet moved rhythmically over the ice

"Try on your own" John said as he let go of me and went in front of me a bit. He began to skate backwards so he could keep an eye on me. "Well done!" He cheered

We made it to the other side of the rink and Freddie began to skate around me.

"I told you love!" He clapped enthusiastically

"I don't know how to stop!" And with that I skated straight into Freddie and landed on top of him, "Sorry" I groaned

"It's ok lovely" He kissed my cheek as he laid flat out on the ice

Brian and Roger lifted me off of Freddie and onto my feet. John gave Freddie a hand up as soon as I was off of my poor boyfriend.

"You ok? You took quite a tumble" Brian looked genuinely concerned

"Yeah I had a good crash mat" I joked

"Let's get back" John said

Freddie and Brian were on either side of me as we made it back to the exit.

"Did you enjoy yourself?" Freddie looked down at me

"Even though I fell and had to hold on to someone the whole time - Yeah, I think it was a bit fun" I admitted

"Wonderful!" Freddie cheered

"But I'm never doing it again" I chuckled
