Afterwards
She sat with her knees against her chest, watching the sun set outside on the balcony off her room. The tears were still rolling down her face as she heard the voices inside speaking downstairs.
“It’s finished and I’ve already sent them on their way.”
“Everything’s gone?”
“Everything. They’re safe, just like I promised.”
“Thank you.”
She couldn’t help but hear the sadness in her father’s voice as he spoke either. She knew that he would go into this deep depression like he had any other time her mother disappeared.
And now it was going to happen again.
The door opened a few minutes later and she felt someone walk up beside her, taking the seat to her left.
“You did it,” she said, swallowing the lump in her throat.
“Yes,” Mnemosyne said. “They’re on their way to the hiding place. They’ll be safe.”
She sniffed as the tears started rolling down her face faster. “How could you let them talk you into it? I could have gone with her somewhere instead of you taking away her memories. We could have been safe. I didn’t want to lose my mother again.”
She reached over and grabbed her hand. “You’ll see her again sooner than you think you will. I’ll make sure of that.”
“What, are you going to tell me where they’re going? And how will she remember me if you took away her memories?”
“To answer your first question, I’m going to tell you where they’re headed.” She looked out into the setting sun for a few moments before looking back at her. “And to answer your second,” she said, smiling slightly, “I didn’t.”

And yes...THERE'S GOING TO BE A SEQUEL!!!1 It's going to be called A Discordant Melody. The problem is, I just don't know when I'm going to start it. Possibly when I finish both MLOE and GS, so I might be a few weeks or months. But you can reread just to get your fill of Damon until then!
