Luna's mom nodded her head gently with her own tears in her eyes as she opened her arms. Luna ran forward and jumped into them, snuggling her head closer to her.  I, however felt nothing but anger. If she loved Luna so much why did she just abandon her? Why was I the one who had to take care of her when I first met her weak and starving in the woods that were the backyard of my old school? I always thought Luna's parents were dead and that's why she was alone, but finding out her mother was alive and well is worse.

Luna's mom sensed my barely contained anger and she hurriedly started talking keeping an arm around Luna, "Before you yell at me let me just say I deserve it ok? I admit that. I never should have left Luna by herself. But you have to understand, she was born under the three moons and is therefore a Lunae Wolf, and they are to be killed on sight. When the Alpha and Beta of my pack discovered I had given birth to a Lunae they tried to kill Luna.
I managed to escape with her. I raised her until she was four then I realized she was safer without me, the pack had my scent and could easily track me down. I had already known that there was a little girl who always came into the woods would be there. I know that was stupid of me but I had no choice. I then came into contact with a government group called the Supernatural Protection Program, they are working toward making all places Supernatural friendly. So I joined them and they assigned me the case of you since they knew my story.

We finally found out that you had been captured by the Hunters. I wanted to stage a rescue but they made me wait saying it was too risky. When we heard that the compound was broken into and a bunch of escapees were freed, I immediately started looking for you. But please believe me when I say that I love you Luna," she faced Luna toward her, "I have always loved you."
Luna stepped out of her mother's reach. A flurry of emotions crossed her face, surprise, sadness, anger. But most of all she looked tired. Tired of all the things life has thrown her way. I stepped toward her and held her hand, letting her know that I would always be with her no matter what.

Luna's mother must have understood that Luna needed time to process as she smiled gently and let Luna have her space.

"We have to get going soon, the smoke bomb I threw stunned them but it won't last for long. Luckily the rendezvous spot isn't to far-" she stopped abruptly and her eyes widened, I was confused as to why until she started to lean forward and saw a knife sticking out of her back. I rushed to support her and carefully laid her on the rocky ground.

"No!" I heard Luna howl furiously.

I looked up to see Alensi standing a few feet away, hand outstretched as if throwing something.
