Under the Moon

Part 4

    "Hey Lu," I whispered back my voice cracking slightly. She gave me a look. A look that said everything without having to say anything at all. A silent unspoken promise that we will never be taken away from each other again. A look that had us running toward each other, crashing into each other's arms and hugging each other tightly.

    Someone cleared their throat and I unburied myself from Luna's neck long enough to give whoever made the noise a fierce glare. They quieted down and stepped back quickly.

    We finally separated ,with great reluctance on Luna's part, and I finally noticed the other people surrounding us. Awkward. Luna noticed too and started bouncing adorably.

    "Oh right! Evangeline these are the people who helped us escape. I mean technically they only wanted to rescue some of their own pack. But they ended up bringing me too. They were going to leave the Mystics block alone but I managed to convince them to help them too, because I knew you would be in there..." she rambled on, waving her hands animatedly whenever some action was involved.

    She finally let up with a content sigh and hugged me again. Someone else cleared their throat but somewhat hesitantly. Luna released me and I almost groaned wanting her to be close to me again. No way was she leaving my sight again.

    "I really hate to be interrupting this touching moment but we must be going." A tall man approached us. He had an air of authority. You can see it in the way he held up his broad shoulders and how the others around him almost seemed to bow their heads when he passed them. 

    He reached us and Luna immediately bowed her head. I stayed put and crossed my arms. For some reason something told me to be wary of this man and until I decided why I wasn't going to trust him. A sharp jab returned me to reality and I saw Luna mouthing the words bow your head but I merely shook my head. She rolled her eyes and sighed.

    "Quite stubborn I see," the tall man had spoken and Luna gave a small snort as if saying that was an understatement. He reached out his hand and I reluctantly took it, "My name is Alensi and I'm the Alpha of the Moonshadow Pack." Ah. So that explains the bowing. "It seems to me you still have that nasty collar around you, let me help you with that." He snapped his fingers and a woman with chin-length black hair stepped forward with a weird looking thin cylinder in her outstretched palm. Alensi then proceeded to stick the cylinder into somewhere in the collar rather sharply before I could protest. Smart guy. He knew I would have refused to let him do it if he had asked beforehand.

    The collar snapped off and landed on the soft grass with a thunk. Sudden energy coursed through me and I felt my fingers tingle. I sighed in relief.  Ever since I've been captured I had felt like two pieces of me were missing. The first had been filled when I saw Luna safe and sound. Now the second ran through me filling me with power.

    "Splendid. Now that that's taken care of we must be off, I'm surprised the so called Hunters haven't started their hunting yet." Alensi sauntered off into the directions of the dark woods. The rest of the pack followed, half shifted into wolves, and the rest stayed human picking up the tattered clothing the wolves that had shifted ruined in case the Hunters might use it to track them. As if they'd be that smart. Then again they caught us so maybe they're full of surprises.
Luna started forward and I grabbed her wrist prompting her to stay.

    "Are you sure about this Lu? I don't have the best feeling about Alensi," I asked her worried.
Luna paused to think. That was one of the things I love about her, she always took people's opinions into consideration even if they went against her own. "How about this: we go with them, stay for a while and if we see anything shady we'll investigate then decide from there."

    I thought for a moment. It was clear Luna was in awe of Alensi but she will always trust my words before others. And since I trust her too, I'll go along with her plan.
"Deal." I said finally, "Now let's hurry up before we're left alone at night in the woods that look straight out of a horror movie."
