"Juju hand me my bag please"
"What bag? Inti stop annoying me
"Yusrah I thought I told you not to put on my red wine lipstick"
"Oopsy, sorry. Nude looks more good on you"
"Rahrah for heaven's sake put on your shoes before she arrives"
"You guys should let me put my shoes in peace. I know Humaira won't come for another five minutes"
I stood there watching them as they huddled and pushed each other to grab the things they need.
"Guys. You do realise we are late and the only ones not at the venue right? I half yelled tapping my feet as I glared at my group of friends who smiled back sheepishly
"When I leave this compound before you. You are no more invited" I deadpanned and turned walking away
"Well since you aren't Mami nor Abba, you can't stop us" Intisaar said as I heard their steps behind me
"Exactly. It's not your father only, it's ours too" Juwairiyya added and I rolled my eyes

"Thank you for coming. Jazakallahu Khairan" I said smiling at a classmate who came with her two sisters. I couldn't remember inviting her but I'm sure Intisaar did. Even when I told them minimum people are needed.
"Excuse me" Zahra butted in grabbing my hands and looking at my classmate "I need to take her for awhile" She added as she dragged me
"What's this? I raised a brow freeing my hand from her grasp
"They are here" She said motioning to the group of people at the hall entrance. I silently groaned knowing she meant my father's family. I don't hate them but I don't like them either. They were supposed to come yesterday but postponed it till today and we couldn't be happier. I'm just hoping they will also leave today. Mainly because I don't want to stay in the same space with Hajja and the amazing cousin she chose for me as a husband. Note the sarcasm
"Humaira, Zahra" Mami grabbed our hands "Let's go"
As we approached Hajja and the rest, We all put on a fake smile and mami said "Welcome welcome. You are all welcome" She hugged Aunt Haleema and smiled genuinely at her before turning to greet our uncles.
We all squatted down and greeted Hajja "Good afternoon Hajja"
"Afternoon" Hajja said not looking at us "Where's my son? She asked as we stood up and I subtly glared at her
"He's over there" Mami said and she nodded walking away with our two uncles following behind her.
"Don't mind her. You know how she is" Aunt Haleema said taking Mami's hands and they walked away to Mami's family.
"Did Hajja leave? Intisaar said coming together with the girls each of them holding and eating something.
"Yes? Zahra raised a brow
"We wanted to meet her" Juwairiyya pouted and I shared a look with Zahra
"She's over there" Zahra replied jutting her chin towards Hajja.
"But we want to go with you two" Yusrah said and I snorted
"Well good luck with that as I'm heading over to my favourite grandma" I said and began to walk over to Mami's family
"My mother is there too so you either come with us or go to Hajja" Zahra said behind me
"We are going to Hajja. She can't be that bad" Intisaar stubbornly said and I smirked. Good luck meeting Hajja.
