My family and I just moved to a city in Victoria, British Columbia. Everything was nice in this neighbour hood. I smile at the people who walked by giving a wave. They are such nice people. I see people walking their dogs and with their boyfriend, girlfriends, spouses, sisters, brother or even their parents.
"Lily! Are you ready?" My mother shouted from inside. I stood up from the steps and turned toward the door. "I'm already outside, I'm waiting." I said holding onto my backpack that was on my shoulder. "Oh, I didn't know you were there dear." She said with a giggle. "Get in the car, I'll be out in a awhile." She said. I turned around and walked over to the car on the passenger side and got in. My father already went to work early this morning. New job, you got to be ready for everything on your first day right? Soon enough my sister, who is two years younger than me got in the back of the car then my mother on the drivers seat.
"I got to admit that I'm excited for school." I said smiling to my mother. "But, you're never excited for school. Samantha, are you excited?" She asked. "I don't know, I'm kind of scared. New high school means mean kids to a new student." Samantha answer. I laughed. "I'll be there to protect you, don't worry." I told her. I'll protect my sister, I'll do anything to protect her.

The principal introduced Samantha and I to the welcoming committee. I thought they were so nice. Samantha instantly got along with one of the girls. We got separated because our classes where on the opposite sides of the building.
After the tour of the school they walked me to my first class which was English. I walked in and went over to a random seat, I picked the seat by the window, three rows away from the teacher. I got everything I needed out of my backpack.
I say there in silence until the school bell rung. A group of people came walking inside the classroom.
The teacher didn't bother to introduce me but I didn't mind. Right away he started talking about our assignments for today. Today's assignment was to write a children's book and to draw characters to match your writing. It was alright.
"Hi, I see you are new here." A boy that was sitting next to me whispered. I looked at him after I wrote the last line on the paper of my chilerns book. "Yeah, I am." I smiled. I just wanted to be friendly. My father always told me to be kind and friendly to others in school, but out of school, that's a whole different story. "Are you from this country?" He asked. I giggled at his question. "Well, yeah. I'm from Manitoba but my father got a job out here so yeah." I explain. "I'm Michael." He stuck his hand out to me. "Lily." I said shaking it. "You sound like you aren't from around here. Are you British?" I asked assuming he is. "Australian. I'm an exchange student." He smiles. "Nice." I said. "Mr. Clifford and hey, a new face. You must be Lily Taylor." My English teacher said, just noticing that I'm in his class. "Hope you are having an okay start of the day." He smiled. I didn't bother to learn his name just yet. "I am." I kindly answered. "Mr. Clifford, I hope you are done with you children's book." My English teacher said. "I'm done writing it, but I haven't drew anything on it, sir." Michael responded. I tried hard not to laugh because I don't really know.

The day went by fast. I was on my way to the front of the school to wait on my mother who was picking me up. I was standing with my sister who was talking about how her first day turned out ok and she couldn't wait until tomorrow because she was trying out for volleyball. I look around and spotted Michael who was waving at me. I smiled and waved back. "So, have you made a friend?" Samantha asked. "Yeah, well I think I did." I smiled. I took a look at Michael again and he seemed to be walking my way also looking back at his friend saying "I'll be there." Then walked again looking at me. Just when he was half way through my mother pulled over. I mouthed 'sorry' and went in the passenger seat.-----x-----
Lily is so nice don't you think? Michael is also nice.
Anyway, I hope you liked the first chapter.
