The guys took some time setting up the fire and arranging chairs around it and in the meantime the girls tried to set up the tents which was impossible because it kept falling apart making them groan in frustration. Lamiya scowled at the flattened tent and threw the pole on the ground becoming angry. Why was she incapable of setting it up? It was not like it needed a lot of effort. Before other girls could throw tantrums, Dan walked over to them and took the pole from Lamiya's hand. He silently set up their tent and upon seeing him helping, the other guys walked over too.
"Then you ask for equal rights." One of the guys, whose name Lamiya came to know as Noah scoffed causing others to snicker. She glared at him, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Women belong in ki-"
"Finish that sentence Caleb and I'll shove this stick so high up your ass that you'll be vomiting sticks!" Beatrice snapped causing the girls to giggle and Caleb to gulp. Lamiya snorted, staring at Dan who was smirking at her, mocking her for her incapability. She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. He just shook his head at her.
"Okay so who's going to make dinner? Volunteers?" A blonde guy with blue eyes named Jeremiah spoke up. Lamiya raised her hand.
"I'll help." She said causing Dan to narrow his eyes at her. What was his problem He was awfully quiet and brooding and it seemed like he wanted to have a fight with her. A few other girls volunteered to help whereas the rest of the guys and girls went away to set sleeping bags in tents.
The food consisted of fried fish, some fruits and sandwiches. It was ready in no time and from time to time Lamiya kept staring at Dan who was talking to guys as they decided that after dinner they'd go down towards the lake that was not too far from here. Lamiya felt excitement bubbling inside her at the thought.
"Food's ready!" Jeremiah yelled causing everyone to scramble and take their seats. Lamiya took two plates and handed one to Dan and one to the other guy sitting beside him.
"Enjoy." She went back and grabbed two more plates, giving one to Beatrice and other for herself as she sat between her and Dan. "Do you do it often?" She directed her question towards Dan, already knowing the answer but she just wanted to start the conversation. He nodded while humming, chewing on his sandwich.
"Yes, every once in a while besides it's fun." He shrugged, looking at her momentarily. She noticed that he had his hair up in a bun today.
"You know, your friends and I are so different. I am surprised I am getting along with them." She chewed her own fish and said. Dan looked at her and raised his eyebrows.
"What do you mean different?"
"Well, for one I am the only one wearing a scarf." She waved her hand towards her scarf with a piece of fish in between her fingers. Dan laughed softly.
"Well," she already saw the mischievous glint in his eyes and that should have been the indication that he was planning something. He leaned forward, grabbing her wrist softly making her raise her brow at him in question. "I wouldn't mind taking it off." He winked, bringing her hand towards his mouth and grabbing the piece of fish from her fingers between his teeth. Lamiya widened her eyes at his audacity.
"What, in front of everyone?" She decided to play along, removing her hand from his grasp and popping another piece in her mouth.
"So you are thinking about doing it in private?" He smirked, leaning forward and grabbing her chin between his fingers. "You naughty, naughty." He shook her chin making her shake her head.
"Get your mind out of gutter." She slapped his hand away. She wasn't even flustered anymore at his antics because she knew he was a major flirt.
"Let me kiss you." He tilted his head, staring at with earnestness. Lamiya gulped down the lump in her throat and scoffed.
