Every since Mia started focusing on her love life, she stopped thinking about everything else. She knew she just couldn't sit at home, she had to do something - start from the scratch, log in to her business accounts, check her bank balance. She couldn't give up even if everything was ruined. But she knew she needed a break. It wasn't going to be long, she had to stay at home for a few days maybe a few weeks because once she had clear mind, she would start over.

Starting over was not easy. Because it took a lot of hard work but also a lot of will to do the said hardwork. She just wanted the case to be closed, her family to be finally safe and protected and then she would focus on business. She had it all planned out in her head. And she was going to follow through.

And she liked it. She liked when she was only focused on one thing. Dan and her relationship was getting so much better now. Ever simce they came back from star gazing which felt like a date so they considered it one, they had been pretty close to each other. In a sense that Mia shared things with him, he shared things with her and both were much more open about their feelings towards each other.

She spent the week organizing everything on her laptop, informing the magazines and the company she worked with that she she wouldn't be able to anymore because her brand name went from a solid ten to a two.

She was selling the stocks that were already on their peak and buying the ones which had possibility of going up so she could have enough money to invest in her business to bring it back from ashes.

But about her personal life, she was a little tense about it now. Dan hadn't been coming home on time for three days now. He would leave early in the morning when she was still sleeping and would come back when she went to sleep. When she asked him about it one night when he came back and she hadn't slept, he just said it was nothing to worry about and just office work.

She could see him struggling with something. He stopped joking, not that they talked a lot during the day but it felt like he was somewhere else. He was stressed about something and maybe that was her first time seeing him like that that's why it felt so odd. He probably got stressed very often. It was in his line of work.

Mia stared at the time on her phone screen. It was past eleven in the night and she wasn't even close to expecting him to come home. Some days he came past two. She went downstairs and made herself some coffee and then grabbed a book.

She busied herself by reading the book and drinking coffee. She wasn't waiting for him as per say but she just wasn't tired. Because she had woken up quite late.

A few more hours passed and Mia started to feel sleepy. She closed the book and decided to sleep, checking that her text had still not been replied to that she sent Dan about when he'll be home. She sighed, pushing the worry to the back of her mind. They had promised to be honest to each other then why he was doing this, she didn't know and she felt so bad that she was starting to question herself.

The door to the apartment opened with a click when she was just about to enter the room. She turned around abruptly, staring at Dan who looked like he had been dragged through hell. Mia's mouth opened, astonished. His hair was all over the place, his shirt untucked and his face looked beaten up, not literally but he looked so... down.

"Zaidan?" Dan looked up from his phone and his eyes widened.

"Why are you still awake?" He glanced at the wall clock followed by Mia. It was two forty three.

"I was just... not tired. What happened to you? You look lost." He did look lost to her. Dan stared at her like he didn't know who he was staring at. Mia moved from his sight and walked towards him but his eyes were still stuck there. Mia saw his lips tremble like he was cold and frowned. Once she was in front of him, she raised her hand and touched his forehead.
