With a morning like that, a person needed to relax afterwards but Dan had a very busy day ahead and as soon as he reached office, he was drowning in files and meetings which worsened his mood. He wasn't usually a tyrant of a boss, he didn't even consider himself boss with all the friendships he had created with his staff but this particular morning was another story. He had snapped at a junior designer when she showed him her improved designs. They weren't up to his standards. The girl looked shocked that he had snapped at her but then just on the verge of crying as her chin wobbled. She said sorry and walked out. And Dan was feeling like shit after that. The girl, Juana was crying probably because she never expected Dan to act that way.

After about half an hour when he was fully indulged in what he was doing, the door opened without a knock making his head snap up.

"Don't you have something called manners?" He glared at Beatrice as she strolled in to his office like she was walking on Paris fashion week. She merely rolled her eyes at him and flopped down in a chair opposite to his desk.

"Well, aren't you a sunshine this morning?" She took out her phone and started scrolling. Zaidan ignored her and focused back on the Photoshop that was opened on the screen. "I hope I am not the reason for this grouchy mood of yours." At that, Dan furrowed his brows and leaned back in his chair.

"Why do you think that?" Beatrice shrugged, a smile on her face.

"Lamiya saw us at the club last night and today you're not exactly in cheery mood so I connected the dots." His brows raised in realization and he nodded.

"Yes she did see us but no you connected the wrong dots." Beatrice laughed.

"Then what crawled up your ass, you made Juana cry." Dan gulped guiltily and groaned. "And the way Lamiya looked at me last night," she shuddered. "I thought she was going to march up to us and slap me right on the face. Can't lie, for a moment I was scared." Dan rolled his eyes.

"She did scream at me that I was cheating." Beatrice laughed, covering her mouth with her fingers, her long fake nails glinting.

"She did look jealous. The girl loves you so much it's nauseating." She gagged.

"Fuck off."

"No seriously. A woman like Lamiya liking a man like you," she barked out a laugh, "it's just as funny as it is nauseating." Beatrice grimaced.

"Shut up!" Dan threw the pen at her and she not expecting it received it directly on her forehead.

"Ow, dick!" She rubbed her forehead where the makeup was wiped off now.

"Mia hates me right now it seems." He grumbled.

"Are you serious?!" Beatrice looked angry at Dan's nonchalant face, "You Dan! You know women."

"Can we not talk about me and my complicated as fuck relationship with my wife?" Beatrice opened her mouth to argue but Dan gave her a pleading look, "please." She sighed and nodded, giving him a look that said it wasn't over. Dan knew it wasn't over but he needed to figure it out himself first before discussing it with anyone else, first he needed to understand Mia and that was not an easy task. Whenever he thought he now understood her, she showed him a whole different side of her and it was just as frustrating as it was intriguing.

He knew that Beatrice believed they both loved each other because they made her believe that. But she didn't know the truth.

Lamiya had refused Dan from picking her up from the office. She drove back on her own and all the while she was very nervous to meet Dan's mother. It wasn't like she was trying to impress his mom but rather she knew the woman's sentiments about her. Lamiya knew the woman hated her.
