I wasn't even out of Freeridge yet. I had to say my goodbyes, not to the gang because I already know they couldn't keep a secret from Oscar, except for Monse, but she already made her plans to leave and stay with her mom in Brentwood. So I guess the group really is breaking up.

The plan for me was to finish school online, then just get my diploma somehow and then college. I had money. More than enough to keep me and Mason on our feet until free housing at Duke. Nobody knew this, but dad kept all of his savings in the glovebox. The glove box was always locked.

... I had the key. I'm surprised that nobody even heard me when I took the car out of my stepdads garage. So much for always having an eye and an ear open when you're asleep, Prophets.

I did 40 on a 25 road, I had to get out of here quick. Just in case someone does find me. I reached into the glovebox for a $20 for gas. I closed it then looked back on the road.

"What the hell!?" I yelled as I slammed on the brake. Oscar was standing in the middle of the street, pissed.

"What are you doing?" I asked as I turned the radio all the way down.

"You didn't tell me that you drove now." Oscar said.

I sighed. "It's my dad's car. Oscar, what the heck are you-"

"Unlock the doors." He said as he walked over to the passenger side of the car.

"For what?" I asked.

"Your friend is in a mood, and he needs you. Well, me, but I need you." Oscar answered as he reached over the window and unlocked the door himself.

"What friend? What are you talking about?" I questioned.

Oscar sat down in the car with a sigh. "Martinez."

I don't know if Oscar knew that I was leaving, but I wasn't going to bring it up regardless. For sure, he noticed all of the stuff of mine in the back of the car, and one of Mason's old car seats. And why is he so pissed?

He won't say anything!

"Mario, I just want to sleep." Ruby mumbled after Oscar pulled his blanket off of his face.

He completely pulled it off a second time, then Ruby took off his eye mask. "Wakey-wakey, biatch!" Oscar chanted, and it made me smile a little.

Ruby looked at me, then back at Oscar. Today is going to be interesting.

"You've got a lot of furry friends." Oscar said, holding some of Ruby's teddy bears. I hope they're not his, cuz that's.... kinda weird.

"They're the twins." Ruby replied.

"You named them?" Oscar asked.

"No. That's my brother and... It doesn't matter." Ruby said as he leaned back onto the bed.

"Get up." Oscar ordered as he threw the bears back. "We're going to a party."

A what?

"I'm not in a celebratory mood." Ruby responded.

"I've lost people, too." Oscar said.

"Then you should know how I feel." Ruby said with a frown.
