Light's pov
"Well, this is interesting," I commented. Although Dark Miserea was too powerful for us to handle(Yeah, right!), I guess surveillance duty isn't bad after all. As Misrerea stormed off in a screaming fit, I decided to follow Dark Miserea.
"What is the relationship between them, Geil?" I asked my buddy. "I honestly don't know, Light. Maybe it's something got to do with their resemblance and similar name..." He whispered back.
I shrugged and continued tailing him. The way Miserea acted wasn't normal. I think their past has something to do with it. "Well, I guess we could keep observing him, and report to HQ if he does anything illegal," I suggested.
"Hmm." My buddy nodded as we watched his silhouette disappear into the night. Is it just me, or does he seem sad about something?

-A few days later-
Yuga's pov
"Whassup Kiri? Can I buddyfight you after school?" I greeted. Kiri looked back at me blankly. Whoa...his usual creepy smile was gone, but that just made him look even more scary. Oh well, he did fall out with his buddy after the fight with Eden.
That must've been really hard on him. "Hey, you alright?" Ranma asked. "Yeah, of course. What do you think?" He replied, a taunting smirk tracing his cheeks. Now, that's the Kiri I know. "Any word from Miserea?" I questioned.
"No." He shook his head and stared off into the distance, his smile fading. Then he quickly snapped out of it and grinned broadly at me. "So, you want a buddyfight, right?" He repeated. "Oh, yeah! So? What do you say?" I asked again.
"I accept..." He started, then glanced over to the end of the escalator and stopped. I looked in the same direction and my jaw dropped.
Miserea stood there, waiting for him.

Dark Miserea's pov
I slowly walked towards him and stopped. "Do you know who I am?" I probed. He nodded solemnly. "And yet, you still came." I fluttered my hands casually and walked away, chuckling. Just then, he spoke up. "Yes, I came back. And I will always come back for you."
I turned around abruptly, my shock clearly written on my face. "Don't you know what I've done to you?" I shouted, not caring whether there are people listening or not. "I ridiculed you, mocked you, laughed at your worst memories and yet you..." He gently placed his hand on my forehead, interrupting me.
"I will always stay with you, for we are buddies," he whispered. I looked up and saw that familiar saintly smile reappear on his face. "Are we not?" I suddenly felt a sense of sheer joy. Why? I don't know. Maybe I'm just happy that I can torment him again.
My lips curled into my usual smirk. "Well, don't blame me if you feel like leaving again," I said as I went back to Yuga and the others. As all of them congratulated me on getting my buddy back, I gazed at Miserea, who had followed me there.
Looks like he'll be staying with me for longer than I thought. Strangely, I don't feel irritated at all.

Miserea's pov
I have finally remembered. Years ago, he had made fun of my most painful memories, rubbed salt on my old wounds, but I triumphed in the end with my strong feelings for my friends. He was destroyed and I won the battle.
I've recalled all this, and yet, I chose to stay. Ah, but what can I do? I've grown to love even him. I kinda regret it, though. The moment he asked me not to blame him if I wanted to leave again, I had gritted my teeth and questioned myself countless times: Why did I choose to stay in the first place?
I guess I'll be with him for longer than I thought. Strangely, I feel joy instead of hatred.

Subaru's pov
I looked up from my book as Kiri entered the classroom. "Good morning. You seem to be in a good mood," I greeted. His eyes widened a bit before he answered coolly, "I don't know what you're talking about." I raised an eyebrow in scepticism and turned back to my book.
I continued to analyse his actions throughout the day. Every time he broke my barrier, smiled with a hungry fire in his eyes and generally acted like standard 'laugh at everything' Kiri, I would notice something different about him. I just don't know what.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Do I have something on my face?" He suddenly quipped. I tensed and quickly switched back into my expressionless look. "There's nothing on your face. You can relax," I answered calmly.
He giggled before saying, "I think you're the one who needs to relax, Subaru..." I flinched as he faced outside the window. Yup, I'm still nervous around him. That guy reads my mind better than Cross's astrological skills.
Senior Mamoru also hadn't found anything yet. Maybe he's just a(sadistic, but) regular human after all...

Miserea's pov
"Hurry up, Ranma, Kiri!" Yuga shouted over enthusiastically as he ran off to the card shop. "Wait up!" My buddy and I followed him as a very pissed Ranma tailed close behind. Where does he even get all that energy? I wondered.
Soon, they were all at the card shop, choosing packs and chatting about the Ranga channel. I sighed contentedly as me, Garga and Destroyer waited outside. Everything was fine until somebody screamed.
"Help! Robbery! He's got a knife!" A shrill voice rang in the air. We all stepped in front of our buddies protectively as the robber took off. I raised my arms, Garga raised his sword and Destroyer got ready to fire a laser beam.
"Police! You are under arrest!" Police cars stopped in front of the card shop as police officers streamed out. "Rats!" The robber grumbled as I slightly relaxed. Then, he raised the knife and pointed it in our direction. I braced myself for the pain...
"Gah!" I opened my eyes and gasped in horror as my buddy crumpled to his knees. Garga knocked the knife out of the robber's hands as I stared at my buddy, stunned. He lay on the floor, still smirking—painfully. He had intercepted the knife...
With his own body.
