Episode 10

The next day-
Miserea's pov
I honestly didn't know what I was thinking.
The moment I saw him getting confronted by Subaru, a part of me felt better than I've ever felt before. Finally, I'm going to be freed from this sadistic evil twin of a buddy!
I had planned to just let them take him away. Yet before I knew it, my body had moved on its own. "Go," I had whispered as I moved in front of him. His eyes showed me no surprise as he left. I wonder why?...
I even went to the extent of shooting jets of water at Mamoru, making him fall onto the ground. "I've endured insults, memories of torture, and more pain than you can ever imagine! That's why..." I had shouted.
  Oh man, oh man...I am soooo confused. Even as I walked my buddy to school, I couldn't get the image of Mamoru getting shot onto the ground by my own attacks. I had opened fire on him just because I wanted to help him, of all people.
  "Why are you cringing, Miserea?" He enquired in his usual smug grin. I didn't know how to react. "You of all people know what I did. I could've become an illegal monster because of you!" I snapped.
  "And yet you covered me anyway," he remarked, giggling knowingly. I remained there, stunned. What is going on with me?
  Have I truly come to accept him as my buddy, my family even?

Da*Dan's pov
  Now's my chance!
  I chuckled uncontrollably at what I was about to do. Deadly Eyes was going to kidnap him while he's still stunned and I'm gonna get payback for what he did to me that day...by trashing him in a buddyfight! Keh keh keh...
  "Now, Deadly Eyes!" I commanded as Miserea turned around. My buddy knocked him out before he could use that 'Nereus stream' and I sleeved his card. That was much too easy, I thought. He must've been really distracted.
  "Let's find that shrimp Kiri!" I zoomed into Aibo Academy on my hoverboard and looked around. He wasn't in Yuga's class or my class, which means...he could only be in Subaru's class! See, I'm a genius! Why doesn't anybody acknowledge that?
  "Whassup loser!" I yelled through the window as Subaru glanced at me disinterestedly, then went back to his book without a second thought. "Hey, I'm right here!" I fumed as Kiri laughed at me softlybeside Subaru.
  "You won't think it's funny when you see THIS!" I waved his buddy's card in his face, and his smile faded. "Ha ha ha! Meet you at the fighting stage after school," I mocked as I flew off. I can't wait to see how crushed he gets without his buddy in his deck!
But why do I get a nagging feeling that it's not going to be easy? Nah, I'm gonna be alright...

Subaru's pov
  That Dan Yamada, always stealing other people's monsters and threatening them to buddyfight for the stolen cards. I gazed back at Kiri, who was smirking even more menacingly than usual. The demonic aura around him grew.
  Surely you would be worried about your own buddy, Kiri, but how could you fight without one? I wondered what I would do without Cross. "What do you plan to do?" I asked him monotonously as he let loose a chuckle.
  "Oh, I'm going to use my other deck, which I haven't used in a long time..." He replied mysteriously. A long time? I knew he must have used another deck before he met Miserea, but Dead End World doesn't seem to be the only one.  "Besides..." I observed Kiri closely.
  If he was a monster, he would be in that deck too. Kiri noticed me staring intently at him and smiled lightly. "What's wrong, Subaru...?" He probed. I concealed my thoughts with a mask of mock seriousness. "Nothing. I wish you luck," I answered.
  I'll be looking forward to this fight...

-Timeskip to after class-
Deadly Eyes' pov
  "Wherever there's a buddyfight, Ion Nanana will be there!" The female commentator warped into the virtual stage in her UFO. "It's a rematch between Da*Dan and Kiri, chu!" Takokichi added. "Now will both fighters please luminize their decks!"
  "Dragonblood Sect! Appear with a big Da*Dan! Luminize, Bloody Nightmare!" Da*Dan declared.
  "Ravenous fiends walking a wicked path, witness their awesome power! Luminize, Hundred Dungeons!" Kiri cried.
"Aaaaaaannnnnd...buddyfight!" "Time to raise the flag!" They said together. "Dragon World!" Da*Dan exclaimed. "Dungeon World." Kiri smirked confidently.
"My buddy, Deadly Eyes!" I appeared behind my buddy in an elegant pose. "My buddy...is still with you," The young lad sighed. "Da*Dan will have the first move!" Ion gestured.
"Draw, charge and draw. I buddy call Deadly Eyes to the right!" Da*Dan set up his usual formation and leered. "This is payback for that day! Deadly Eyes, attack the fighter!" My buddy ordered. I flew towards Kiri swiftly.
"I cast, Quiescence of Cassiade." Kiri calmly casted a counter spell as Da*Dan angrily pouted, "Tch. I end my turn." "Draw, charge and draw," Kiri curled his lips into a sadistic smirk. "Now, shall we begin?" He exclaimed. Being a monster, I easily recognised the evil in his voice.
His eyes...they were filled with excitement, excitement to destroy Da*Dan, and that unnerved me greatly. "Be careful," I warned. My clueless buddy just told me to relax as Kiri started his turn...

Dark Miserea's pov
"I call Second Omni Inverse Demon Lord, Death Asmodai to the left!" I flicked the card forward and one of my Inverse fiends comrades materialised at the left position. "Death..." He snarled as I giggled at Ion's shocked expression. It was hi-LAR-ious!
"Wh-wh-what's this?! An Inverse Omni Lord! I've never seen one before!" She stuttered. "I wonder what abilities it has, chu!" Takokichi commented. "Now I cast Pillar Of Fire to destroy Deadly Eyes!" I dropped one of his souls as Da*Dan cringed.
"Now, Death Asmodai, attack the fighter!" "Forced attack on Deadly Eyes!" He reminded. "Who now has 20000 defense thanks to Madness Luna's effect!" My eyes danced in amusement. "But my monster has 50000 attack!" I chuckled lightly. "Hi-LAR-ious!"
"What? Soulguard, counterattack!" Da*Dan was caught off guard as his buddy destroyed Death Asmodai. "Activate Death Asmodai's ability, I drop the top 3 cards of my deck and call up to 3 monsters without paying its call cost!" I declared.
"I call Fifth Omni Inverse Dragon Lord, Crazed Tenbu to the center and Seventh Omni Inverse Earth Lord, Twilight Count to the right!" A Chinese dragon and a vampire emerged onto my field.
"Howling Thunder!" I cried as Tenbu let another card dropped from Deadly Eyes' soul and destroyed him. "No!" Da*Dan's eyes widened in disbelief. I smirked playfully and said, "Unlike you, I don't rely on my buddy."
"In fact, with these, I don't need him at all."I laughed into my hand as I watched my monsters attack my opponent. "My turn is now over," I yawned. Sorry, Miserea.
