Two chapters in one day, probably more since I feel guilty for making you all wait this long. And once again, to all of my current readers, I thank you for your support.

Chapter 24

hey had won. They won.

Y/n knew they had won when she heard the loud explosion. It was so loud that she could hear it all the way from the rooftop. Quite amazing, considering the fact that the Second World was situated underground.

She still felt wary though, and even though they won, she still felt empty. She usually felt like this but not to the point where everything is boring and left her physically drained.

The sun was about to set and she saw students leaving the school with big smiles on their faces. She shook her head, feeling slightly amused. She returned her attention to the setting sun, which made her feel something unknown to her. Was it peace? Was it relief? She did not know.

"N/n." she heard Rikuya's voice gasp. She was too bored to even talk.

"I figured you'd be here. We won. Seredy is captured along with Ezeldarm. However," there was a catch. There was always a catch. She knew it too well "..the keys were destroyed."

"I understand." she spoke up, coldly. Rikuya frowned and grabbed her hand, pulling her up so she could stand.

"What are you doing?" she questioned. Rikuya felt her stiffen when he wrapped his other arm around her waist.

"You loved to dance. I know you're upset so I thought a dance would cheer you up." Rikuya spoke confidently, keeping his grip strong but gentle.

Y/n nodded as Rikuya took the lead, dancing slowly and elegantly. The wind began to pass by, making a soothing sound that seemed to calm her. Rikuya noticed her relax and soon smiled.

He spun her around, and continued dancing until it ended when the sun was no longer in view. Both of them were panting, looking into each other's eyes as though it was the only thing they could see.

"Thank you." Y/n whispered, receiving a chuckle from Rikuya. He pulled her closer and embraced her in a comforting hug.

"Anything for my best friend." (Ooh, you friend zoned yourself!) he smiled and kissed her forehead. He managed to convince her to go to the dormitory but she looked upset still.

"Is something bothering you, N/n?" he questioned. Just like Jin and Sebastian, he has never seen her like this. Dancing was the best solution to cheering her up. If that didn't work, he didn't know what else he could do.

Did the news made such a large impact on her that it left another emotional scar to take refuge in her already broken heart? Or was it something he did? He, for once, felt useless.

He was the closest to Y/n, besides Jin and his group of friends and Sebastian, and always knew what she was thinking. They were raised together, they played together, they battled together. Was her past so traumatizing that even he was unable to make her forget?

For once in his life, he didn't know what was going on in her mind. He didn't know what she was feeling. There were no signs at all.

When she was thinking, her brows would furrow slightly downward. When she was amused, she would rub her hands. When she was sad, she'd look down and focus on her shoes/feet.

However, there were no signs to help him this time. There were no alterations to her body posture. No difference of the position of her brows or cheekbones. Her lips weren't pursed, just a straight line. Her eyes didn't have that slight shimmer anymore and she looked like a living corpse. But with her beauty, he'd rather think she's a living doll.

Where was the girl he fell in love with? She was still there, he knew that. She's still the same, inside. He knows. But what he doesn't understand, is that...

He feels as though she's already gone...
