"I'm glad it's Friday," Carter said as he draped his arm around Natalie's shoulders, kissing her temple. The week had went by fast and he was thankful for that. He planned to spend this winter break with his girlfriend and best friend.
"You coming over?"Carter asked Natalie as they got to his car. He caged her between the car and his body, placing his hands on the car on both sides of her.
Natalie smiled a bit and kissed his chin. As much as she wished she could spend every moment with him she knew that she'd need to come home for a bit too easy her parents minds about letting her stay a week away.
"I have to go home first, I'll be over in a bit," she said with a slight smile.
Carter nodded a bit disappointed but shrugged it off, he knew he was going to be spending a whole week with her.
"Okay, I'll see you later." He kissed her lips and hugged her before getting into his car and heading home.
"I'm home." Carter called out once he made it inside his house. He was greeted with loud moaning coming from upstairs. He threw his bookbag onto the couch and headed for his room, pulling out his suitcase. When Carter was almost done packing he heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
"Carter?" He heard Sebastian call out.
"In here."
"What you packing for?"
"Me and some friends are going to a cabin for the winter break." Carter said putting the last necessities in his suitcase and zipping it up.
"Cool, I'm in." Sebastian said as he left the room to go put his clothes together in his duffel bags. Carter shook his head. Leave it to Sebastian to just invite himself somewhere. Carter pulled out his phone and texted Natalie.
'Let me know when you're ready. I'll come get you.'
Natalie got into her car and drove home. She grabbed her bag and went into her house. There were boxes piled by the door that sent the painful reminder of her parents' situation. She ran to her room and packed her bags with her clothes and toiletries.
"Natalie," her mother knocked on her door gently.
"Come in," Natalie answered and looked down at the text from Carter on her phone. Her mother entered and sat on the edge of her bed.
"We should talk about your dad and I at some point," she said and looked at Natalie narrow-eyed, from behind her thin frames, "he should be out by Wednesday."
Natalie bit her lip at the thought of being in between households with her parents.
"I won't be here. I won't get in the way," Natalie replied and shrugged, nervously tidying her room, "I'm almost an adult, mother. It's fine," she said and replied to Carter, 'I'm ready.'
"Yes, Natalie, but you don't alway cope like an adult. I don't want to have to put you up with Dr. Julep again," her mother pushed her glasses to the top of her head to hold her thinning blonde hair back. Natalie looked at her mother and shook her head. She hated when her mother would bring up her time with the therapist.
"I'm fine, mother. Thanks. I'll be leaving soon. I should say goodbye to dad," Natalie said taking her suitcase and wallet down the stairs and placing them by the door before retreating to her dad's office. She knocked and when she heard him groan, 'come in', she entered.
"I'm leaving for break now, Daddy," she said and watched as her father continued to pack things into boxes, "I just thought I'd let you know," she finished. She felt as though she should hug him but knew that wasn't something her family did too frequently.
