"Who broke you out?" Jim asked for the sixth time in a row. I stayed silent, staring off into space. "Jim, she's not talking." A dark haired woman, who had been standing with him the whole time, spoke.

I had been sitting here for while after they patched up my leg. I hadn't spoken a word, even though multiple people had tried to talk to me.

I smirked slightly. She gets it. They both turned their heads to me.

Then something in Jim's eyes clicked. He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms in a more casual tone. "They aren't coming for you."

I glared up at him.

"That's why she's not speaking. She thinks they're gonna come and rescue her." He said to the woman. "They're not."

I clenched my jaw.

What does he know anyway?

Nothing. He doesn't know anything.

He's just trying to get in your head.

I didn't expect them to come rescue me, I was pretty sure they'd send Tabitha to kill me. But I still didn't like Jim talking about... that.

"You don't what you're talking about." I said with a low voice. Jim and the woman looked at each other.

"Hey Essen." Jim said. "Did you know that Ava here suffers from delusions?" Jim said Essen. She stayed silent.

"That's-" I stop myself from saying anything else.

He's just trying to get in your head.

"You know what I think, Ava?" Jim said, uncrossing his arms and folding his hands. I looked up at him. "What do you think, Jim?" I said with venom dripping from every word.

"I think you've deluded yourself into thinking he cares about you."

I flinched when Jim said 'he', knowing exactly who he was referring to.

"You don't, you don't know anything." I said back to him, trying to keep my calm. I was failing.

Jim looked at you with cold eyes. "Jerome Valeska is a psychopath."

"Stop it." I whispered.

"He's using you. He's laughing at you. And when he's done with you, he'll kill you." Jim continued.

I closed my eyes and shook my head. "You don't know what you're talking about." I whispered.

Jim stood up. "Let me know when you're ready to talk." Him and Essen both walked out the room.

Once Jim was out of my sight, I stuck my tongue out at him.

Asshole.

I looked at the clock on the wall, I had been in here for at least an hour and Tabitha hadn't shown up to kill me yet. What was taking her so long?

The room was silent for a good ten minutes, but then I swore I heard gunshots from outside. I shrugged it off, this was Gotham after all. Plus I didn't hear any gunshots after that. But then, twenty minutes later, the door swung open. I looked up and saw Jerome standing there in a police uniform.

I smiled. "Jerome, what are you doing here?"

"I've come to rescue the princess from her tower." He answered.

I giggled. "My hero." I gestured to the handcuffs. "Care to take these off, Prince Charming?" I said with a bit of sarcasm.

He looked me up and down. "I dunno, I kinda like 'em."

I gave him deadpanned look. "Just get them off." Jerome smiled and lifted a set of keys.

I rubbed my wrist once the cuffs were off and looked at Jerome. "Is this the part where you carry me off into the sunset?"

"Well it's five in the afternoon, so there's no sunset yet, but how about a police station filled with dying cops?"

"It'll do." I answered. Jerome smiled and lifted me up bridal style, I laughed as he did so. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he carried me out of the interrogation room.

"You've got blood on you." I pointed out.

"It's a tough business, doll." Jerome said.

"So it's yours?" I ask. He shrugged it off. "Just a parting gift from the late commissioner." He laughed. He walked outside, with me still in his arms. There was Barbara, leaning against a fancy car.

"Where the hell is everyone else?" She asked. I looked at Jerome with confusion. He looked at me, then at Barbara.

"Well Ms Kean, I am afraid they did not make it." He said fancily, but then spoke normal again. "Where the hell is Aaron?"

Barbara rolled her eyes. Jerome walked to the car, but Barbara stopped him. "There is no way in hell that I am letting you drive again." Jerome gave her a pout, then rolled his eyes. Jerome let me down so I could get in the car. He went to other side and got in beside me.

Barbara sat in the drivers seat and looked at me through the rear-view mirror. She raised her eyebrows expectantly. "You're welcome."

"Thanks."
