Coraline and Wybie

Part 5

I woke up the next day with a loud yawn. I'd been tossing and turning all night. My mind had been filled with thoughts of the Beldam and the doll. Whenever I closed my eyes, I would imagine the Beldam coming out of the little door. 

After I'd had breakfast, I went outside to the garden. I wanted to check on the doll. r

I went to the spot where we buried the doll but the rock was moved and the mud had been moved as well. Fear settled in and I ran to Wybie's place.

I knocked on the door a bunch f times until Wybie opened it. 

"Good morning" he said as he rubbed his eyes.

"Wybie, the doll is gone!" I said. 

"What?" he asked in horro and we ran back to the garden.

 "Coraline look!" He said and pointed to a trail of small footprints I hadn't noticed. 

We followed them and they trailed onto the pathway that lead to the old well. We got to the well and laying next to the wooden door that covered it was the doll. I knew it was able to move. The beldam controlled it. 

"Coraline it's okay" Wybie said.

I started going over to the doll put Wybie grabbed my hand. I turned to look at him in shock as he held my hand. 

"I'll go" he said and pulled me so I woud be behind him. 

"It must not have been strong enough to lift the lid" Wybie said as he picked the doll up my its leg. 

"We can't let it go back to the other world" I said. If it did, the beldam would sew new buttons into its eyes. \

"How did it know where the well was?" I asked. 

"Yeah that's weird since it can't see. Maybe since it was created so long ago, it knows it's way around now" Wybie suggested. That makes sense, I thought to myself. 

I looked at the sky and noticed the clouds were swirling again. There was a sudden gust of cold air and the rain started pouring down. There was a roar of thunder and Wybie shouted "come on, let's get out of here" 

Wybie held the doll in his hand as we ran back to the pink palace.
