“There's always a good lesson in meeting new people, its enlarging your circle of friends. And though there are times you don't match with their likes, there are some whom you just blend well.”
― Solita
I sip the warm chocolate that my savior gave me a while ago. She seems decent with her long curvy black hair and a sophisticated look on her facial expression. The Royal Blue satin dress stretches out her small frame. Her age appears to be playing in the number of thirty-five to forty and despite her age, she looks dazzlingly beautiful. I wouldn’t be here right now without her.
Because of my grieving mind and heart, I almost get bumped by a car. Yes, she saved my life. People think that I’m crazy for sitting in the middle of the street. Well if I’m in my proper mind, I’ll also assume that I’m insane. She probably judges that I’m out of my mind. I also don’t know how I end up there. I just go where my feet bring me.
I clear my throat and place the hot mug in the table. She brings me to a coffee shop near the street I nearly tainted with my own blood. Usually, I’m not a type of person who shares her problem with some random stranger but there is something in her that makes me want to share it. That’s why she know how the hell I end up broken. Now, she’s in deep thought like she’s twisting and turning something inside her head.
“Umm…Thank you for the drink.” I fishes my wallet in to my bag and pull out some bills. Payback time. Although I have a few money left inside my wallet, I have to pay her back.
“No, you don’t need to pay.” She refuses my offer for the second time. Hell no. I need to pay this drink. The last time I check it costs like five cheap chocolate drinks in a vending machine. Since I need to be thrifty in spending my money, this costs so much and I need to pay it. I attempt to give it to her but she shakes her head and beams.
“By the way, call me Sarah.” She extends her right hand and waits for me to shake it.
“I’m Elena-“I take her hand and shake it “-Thank you for listening about my wrecked life. Please tell me, how can I repay your kindness?” Although I cannot fully repay the deeds she did to me, I’m responsible to give the sympathy she provided.
“You said a while ago that you are recently been fired on your work.” She says while tapping her fingers on the table. Well, it still stings. I’ve been fired because I was replaced. I just nod at her. I’m still in process that I have no work starting tomorrow. It only means that I don’t look for work sooner or later, I’ll meet my demise because I’m unemployed.
“I have a job for you to do,” when my eyes grow wide and my curiosity reached its peak, she continues, “it’s not really my business but I’m part of it, be the assistant in our building a clothing line in the industry.” She smiles at me expectantly. If we calculate the things going round in my life, the offer is rather inviting. Except for the half-pay money I got earlier, I have no penny left to give. My mom is sick that is why I give her all the money I’ve saved for her medicine.
Wait, if she meant that this is how I pay her back, it only means that I have no salary to gain on this job. I need to look for another part-time job to have some coinage for survival.
“Um, I think you’ve given me enough.” I look at her, grateful.
“But I really need your help, dear.” Sarah’s brows crease. If she says it that way, I need to aid her wants. I have no choice left, do I?
“Okay. What do I need to do?” Sarah sighs in relief. I’m starting to think that she really wishes a worker for the business.
