Timeskip: a week

Lena changed into an orange hoodie with white stripes going down the sleeves and two around the waist. Her pants were another pair of black jeans she owned with her usual red sneakers.

Today was Lena and Alex's birthday, February 25th. Thankfully it was the last class of Thursday which meant that the weekend was one more day away and Lena was under no illusion that it would end without Miko's eyes burning through her hoodie, not to mention yapping away like no tomorrow. In fact, Lena had never been so relieved for the class to end so she can quickly speed away from the teen without bumping into either of her friends.

Escaping the halls to the outdoors, now all she has to do is wait for her brother to meet her out front. Although... Something felt like it was missing. Lena couldn't place her finger on it until Jack Darby walked out. Something that slightly bothered the hooded-girl is that the two had the same backpack. Same color and style. Well, it's Jasper so there aren't exactly many stores for backpacks around here.

Jack was a tall kid, he easily towered over Lena by a few inches. He had an oval face with small lips, a long nose, and almond-shaped light blue eyes. The 16-year-old had pitch-black hair that gave off a blue shine when in sunlight, cut so it was short in the back and sides but somewhat poofy at the top, slightly hanging over his forehead in the form of bangs swept to the left.  dark grey short-sleeved shirt over a white long-sleeved shirt the covered the entirety of his arms in order to protect his fair skin. Blue jeans that loosened up at the ankles, resulting in a baggy look with matching dark blue and white sneakers.

Jack's motorcycle was nowhere to be seen. Not in its usual parking spot or in another. Perhaps it was in the shop getting repaired? The orphan could really care less but it did help her pass a small amount of time by while she sat by the stairs with her backpack set down beside her. With Jack's motorcycle gone, it might stir up some dumb rumors saying that he sold it. After all, that beauty of a bike is the only reason why he became slightly more popular than the ghost he was before.

Lena's ears perked at the sound of footsteps making their way towards her. Awkwardly, the aforementioned boy sat next to her, placing his own bag down. The two sat in awkward silence, both avoiding eye contact at all costs. Silently pleading to whatever deity there is for Alex to arrive already so she can get going. Jasper's High School and Elementary School both get out for the day at 2:06 so he will be here soon.

Beginning the conversation with clearing his throat in hopes to stop himself from stuttering, "Hey Lena," Jack starts, "I erm... wanted to apologize about Miko. She can be a bit- What's a good word?"

Finishing Jack's sentence for him, Lena adds in words she's memorized from English class when the teacher would have them do vocabulary puzzles every day for the first two months. "Overzealous? Pushy? Energetic? Touchy?" finishing his sentence with an obviously annoyed tone. Jack scratched the back of his neck, a nervous habit of his that everyone in school knows about. Clearing his throat yet again, "Y-Yeah... again, I'm really sorry about that."

Rolling her eyes, scoffing from under the oversized hood, "It takes a week for someone to apologize and it's not the one who pestered me and invaded my personal space? Not a great way to show sincerity."

Jack nervously nodded his head in agreement, giving a sheepish smile, "In my defense, Miko didn't mention anything about what happened until yesterday when she asked who the kid with white hair was."
