to say that kuroo was pining for you was an understatement. the infamous nekoma captain was pretty much in love with you, and everyone could see it.. everyone but you.
you'd known kuroo for a little while, having met at the karasuno and nekoma practice match, and so you didn't know him all that well and figured he was just being friendly.
however, you couldn't deny the fact that he was handsome as hell, and everytime he would smile at you or go out of his way to make conversation, your heart would leap.
"y/n-chan!" he called out gleefully to you as yourself and the karasuno volleyball team disembarked the bus at the summer training camp.
you smiled politely and sent a quick wave in his direction before heading to the side of the bus to help takeda and ukai pull out the luggage from inside it.
to your surprise, kuroo was still waiting for you with a smile on his face when you were done.
you smiled again, throwing your bag over your shoulder, only for kuroo to immediately take it from you. "allow me." he grinned.
as he walked with you to the girls room, where you assumed kiyoko and yachi would be waiting for you, you expected kuroo to talk your ear off, like he normally does; but to your surprise he said nothing.
"everything okay, kuroo-kun?" you asked him, not knowing how much it made his heart flutter. "you're awfully quiet."
he nodded before he stopped in the middle of the hallway. "y/n?" he said quietly. "can i tell you something?"
you then stopped, looking over your shoulder. "of course." you smiled, heart beginning to race.
"y/n-chan." he spoke softly, a nervously smile creeping onto his face. "i like you a lot, y/n."
"i like you too, kuroo!" you replied, completely missing the point and not suspecting at all that he may also harbour feelings for you.
kuroo sighed and stepped closer to you, putting his hands on your shoulders. "no, y/n. i like you like, i have a crush on you." he explained.
your brows raised as your heart rate increased. "k-kuroo." you stammered, your mouth unable to express the thoughts running through your mind.
he looked at you nervously and you swore it was the cutest thing to see the normally confident kuroo so vulnerable.
"i had no idea," you finally said, heart still beating a mile a minute. "but i like you too." you smiled.
"you do?" he perked up. "really?"
you nodded and immediately were pulled into his arms, squealing when your feet left the floor and you were spun around.
when you were back on the ground you were somewhat dizzy, only feeling steady again when kuroo placed his hands on both of your cheeks to get you to look at him.
"i'm so happy," he told you. "i could kiss you!"
you felt your face flush bright red.
"neat!"
BONUS
you groaned into your pillow, laying face down while suga sat beside you assuring you that it was fine. "i said 'neat', suga. who the fuck says neat? it's not neat to say neat and yet i said it because i'm a fucking idiot!"
"don't beat yourself up too much, y/n." asahi joined the conversation meekly. "everyone get's nervous sometimes. remember what happened when nishinoya confessed to me?"
you rolled over onto your side. "didn't you thank him?"
asahi's face stiffened. "i thanked him." he nodded before joining you in laying face down.
