I sat on the floor of the training room, anxiously licking my lips in anticipation. The Fortune was keeping me waiting on purpose, gathering his thoughts and thinking about who knows what. I was tapping my fingers on my knees ready to burst. The suspense was killing me! The Fortune cleared his throat.

"Alright! I think I'm ready to start." the Fortune stated.

"Finally." I sighed in relief. I got up and dragged a chair over. I sat crossed legged getting ready for the truth about David.

"It all started a year after me and David became friends. We were playing an annual game of manhunt with the local kids. David and I were on the same team, hiding together, back to back. There was silence all around us as we waited, hearts beating, praying not to be found. I crossed my fingers for good luck. But David gave us up. I could hear the rustling of footsteps in the leaves. David coughed loudly enough for the person to hear because they came running over to our spot.

'Gotcha' the boy had said.

As he dragged us back to jail, I stared back at David. 'Why did you give us away?' I asked him, David hated losing.

'Because I couldn't stand to be near you any longer.' he said, laughing at me.

After that day, things just kept getting worse and worse, until I gave up on him all together. I had no idea what had gotten into him, he had changed so quickly, I didn't know how to stop him. A few weeks later, we drifted apart and stopped speaking to each other. I noticed he began to talk to his old friends, not soon after he was pulling pranks on everyone, becoming his old self. After that I knew that I could never trust him again. He had just pretended to be my friend, but all along, he never truly cared for me. Many years later, he visited me during my morning session at the park.

"Hello old friend." he had said to me. I had turned around to face him, but didn't say a word.

"Aren't you going to say something?" he asked.

"What is there to say?" I answered.

He was silent. "You betrayed me. Why should I talk to you?' I asked him.

"Look, I was just a kid, I didn't know what I was doing. I'm sorry." he sighed.

I looked him in the eyes and noticed that they were sincere. He really meant what he said. We became friends again, but not 1 year later, he betrayed me again. That's when he became my enemy. He never visited me again, until today. I still don't, and never will trust him again. He was to much of a sly weasel to ever tell anything to. I know you don't like him either Saturn, and I don't blame you. You are safe as long as I am here. I know his weaknesses, and I will use them against him if I have to." the Fortune ended his story on a sad note.

I stared at him for a while, then walked up to him and gave him a hug.

"I'm sorry." I said to him, and I truly meant it. "I won't betray you."

"I know you won't Saturn." he replied into my ear.

"Now, let's get you to bed." he laughed.

I lay ed awake in my big bed, thinking about his story. Something still doesn't fit. Who were those other men that had waited in the car for David, were they his old friends, allies, group members? A lot of my questions were still left unanswered. I sighed in frustration. Why so many secrets?

After many hours of thinking, I finally just passed out from exhaustion.

"Saturn, time to wake up, your parents aer here." the Fortune said through his mind. I sat up in bed. I don't think I will ever get used to him talking like that. It was weird and cool at the same time.

I walked out of the bedroom and into the living room. I greeted my parents with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. My mom handed me my clothes and I ran into the bathroom to change. As I was walking out, I stopped, hearing my parents talking.

"When are they coming?" my father asked.

"I don't know." the Fortune sighed.

"How long does she have?" my mother asked.

"A few months." my teacher replied. They all let out sighs. "I will explain later." the Fortune said in my head. His voice scared me again.

I walked out and sat down on the couch. "So, what are we doing today?" I asked.

"Some more training and maybe some ice cream." my mom said, smiling.

I knew something was up. She never let me get ice cream, only when she had to tell me bad news.   But what was the bad news? I wondered.
