Thora Hawthorn:
"Mate?" Rayan practically screams in the training room. Today is Tuesday which means automatically training starts at five in the morning because we have busy days on Tuesdays. Meetings practically all day long and also Tuesdays are the days when the people can come before the king in the throne room to talk about issues of the week. That alone takes hours. I hope I get a chance to see Giovanni today. "We all felt the growl it literally shook the ground. That's how your father found out. I just thought someone majorly pissed you off."
"Your dad isn't actually letting him stay? Right" Santiago says dropping from the pull-up bar. I cross my arms.
"Yes, he is." I sigh and grab onto the bar myself. "He's not happy about it," I grumble doing my first pull-up. Rayan places one hand on my back and one on my stomach.
"Tighten your core," He instructs. I roll my eyes. "He's a rogue and he can't even shift properly."
I jump down from the bar and glared at them both "You didn't finish your set," Santiago comments ignoring my death glare.
"What's the problem with you two?" I scoff and walk over to the bench press. "I thought at least my two best friends would support me," I throw over my shoulder. Both groan and jog over to me.
"It's not that we don't support you. It's more of the fact that" Santiago pauses and I raise my eyebrow. "I don't know how to say what I'm thinking," He grumbles and Rayan rolls his eyes.
"What your boyfriend is trying to say is that he doesn't approve of your new boyfriend," Rayan says bluntly and I shrug.
"I don't care if you two idiots approve," I cross my arms. "You two sound like my dad."
"I can be your daddy if-" Rayan comments but he doesn't finish as Santiago elbows him in the ribs. "Ow! Idiot!"
"Your Dad has a point. You don't know this guy. What if he's a murderer and that's why he got kicked out of his pack." Santiago says quickly "What if he's some kind of rapist!"
"Or what if he's a serial killer-rapist," Rayan says and I look between the two of them.
"Are you kidding me? He couldn't even best you two and you expect him to be any of those things," I scoff
"He almost killed me," Rayan snaps, and Santiago rolls his eyes.
"Now you admit it," Santiago mutters before adding "He attacked two guards and your own father."
"It was self-defense."
"You can't' prove that," Rayan says "And according to my men, he did in fact attack them after not complying with orders to respect the King."
"Where the proof?" I mock him already annoyed at the two of them. There is no way they are going to deter me from getting to know my mate. I will do what I want and they will see. I know that Giovanni, while rough around the edges, has to be good. He's just scared and it's not helping that no one is in his corner.
"Proof?" Rayan stutters "My guards are bruised! Well not anymore because it healed but they were!"
"Thora, Think this through." Santiago says again ignoring Rayan "You are heir to a throne. It is an extremely hard and extremely dangerous job. Do you honestly think he could handle it?" I pause. Did I think he could handle it? I mean maybe in time? It's true the job is not for everyone and without the proper training someone could, in theory, crumble under the sheer weight and power. That's why it's better if you are born into it. With the way he acts as of now I don't think he could do it.
