Giovanni

Chapter 13

Thora Hawthorn:

I wait anxiously with my family for dinner to start. Giovanni will be here shortly and just thinking about it makes my nerves jump. Seeing him today still gave me the same feeling as the first time. I mean he just gets hotter every time I see him and I am not complaining. The goddess decided to pair me with a god. A complicated god but a god nonetheless.

Rayan enters the dining room in his guards uniform with a smile on his face. Santiago and I look at each other knowingly as he fixes his shirt trying to tuck it in. He smiles at us and his lips are tinted a red color. "Sorry I'm late," He mutters slumping over to sit next Santiago. The seat beside me remains empty and I look towards the door anxiously.

"Why are you late, Rayan?" My mother asks narrowing her eyes. After Rayan's parents died my parents became his. He's such a hoe and a trouble maker so he's constantly in trouble which takes the heat off of me.

"I was uh," He pauses looking for an excuse but we can all smell it on him. He's saved when the doors open and in stumbles Giovanni. He trips slightly but then regains himself. I stand with a smile but then a frown replaces it when I see him looking at the table angrily. He blinks a bunch of times and then walks slowly toward the table. Instead of coming to sit in the only seat left he looks at Rayan and walks that way.

"Giovanni," I say as my eyes widen when I smell the alcohol all over him. Is he actually drunk right now? I look towards his guards and they look at me scared. I look over right as I see Giovanni lift his fist to Rayan. Rayan doesn't even blink before rising from his seat. He punches Giovanni in the face but Giovanni fights back.

Santiago shoots into the fight and grabs Rayan who is now on top of Giovanni chocking him. Santiago manages to wrestle him away. I run around the table just as Giovanni gets up and lunges at Rayan again. He grabs Rayans bulletproof vest in an attempt to snatch him away from Santiago. Rayans usually crystal blue eyes are as black as night and I can only imagine what Giovannis eyes look like. I lunge for Giovanni but i'm grabbed by my father.

"You! You tried to kill me!" Giovanni bellows as two guards hold him back from Rayan.

"I'd do it again," Rayan spits in anger and Giovanni growls menacingly

"Shut up!" Santiago screams at Rayan as he struggles in his hold.

"Let me go!" I demand from my father. He doesn't and I scream. The boys continue to growl and spit vulgar language at each other. Rayan escapes Santiagos hold and lunges for Giovannis neck. The guards hesitate in trying to protect Giovanni or help their head guard fight a potential threat. I extend my claws and they dig into y fathers hand. He yelps and lets me go and I run to help Santiago separate the two. Giovanni punches Rayan in the jaw and he spits blood.

"Stop I screech just as Santiago rips Rayan away again. He all but drags Rayan kicking and screaming from the room and the door slams behind them. Before the guards can grab Giovanni I latch onto his wrist and his gaze goes from the guards to me.

He breaths heavily in and out and I gasp at how he looks. His eyes are Bloodshot, he's sweating, and his canines are extended a fair amount which is a weird occurrence in human form. He looks from my eyes to my hand firmly planted on his wrist and then he reels back "Don't touch me," He slurs to me. He looks from me to my parents and Santiagos dad and then back to me.

Without further explanation or any at all he walks towards the door and leaves. I look to my parents with my eyes wide in surprise and hurt. Dad opens his mouth to say something but I shake my head. "Not right now," I says quickly.

I have to find Giovanni. Wandering around here is dangerous enough but it's even worse now that I know he's an angry drunk. Is this what he meant when he told me i'd want to reject him? Because he's a possible alcoholic with fits of anger? Of course he seemed closed off but not the type to do anything like this. Dad had told me he attacked him but I never actually believed it.
