Thora Hawthorn:
Yesterday was actually terrible. I have never once considered the fact that I forced Gio into a relationship that he never wanted. I mean sure he says it's a good thing but at the end of the day Santiago was right. I was being a stubborn brat and I did whine until I got what I wanted. Just like always.
Who knows if I'll even be a good Queen. Knowing me probably not because I am already struggling and I am not even a full Queen yet. I can't figure out this Weston situation and I damn sure can't figure out how to help my mate. He has been getting attacked his whole life and I promised him that I would protect him. I told him he was safe in this castle and that is not true. I have no clue what to do. I know how to do a bunch of other shit. I've been fully trained in fighting and even in lethal attacks. I know what to do in case of land dispute, mate dispute, other kingdom dispute, and even an Alphas dispute. I know how to prepare for war but I have never found that I'd need that one. Peace has been constant for years. We are one of the most peaceful kingdoms not including the Dragons.
We have our fair share of Alpha disputes but we can always handle those quietly no matter how crazy it might seem to the Alphas involved. This though is something I never thought I would be able to witness. I never thought that our kingdom would have an all-out civil war. Santiago is right I am not prepared for it.
"Stop it," Gio says not looking up from the papers in his hands. My father had decided to give Gio and I out own set of paperwork that needs both of our signatures as well. They have already preapproved documents they just needed to be re-read.
"Stop what?"
"Overthinking," He states looking up at me finally. "You've been staring at the same document for thirty minutes."
"I have not been staring for thirty minutes-" I look up at the clock and it has indeed been thirty minutes "and I'm not worrying."
"Really?" He questions with a raise of his brow.
"Really," I state with a huff
"You know our link is open and I keep getting bits of what you're thinking and I mean-"
"The link is open? Why didn't you tell me?"
"Listen to me," he says holding my face in his hands. "I know you're anxious and upset but right now all we can do is wait-"
"But-"
"No-" he says cutting me off "regardless of what Santiago says or think we are doing the best we can with the information we have been given."
I sigh and lean into is hands. "Are you just saying that or do you really think that?"
He kisses my forehead. "I actually think that."
I got to open my mouth to say something else but the door slams open. Rayan walks in scanning the room before his eyes land on us. "Sorry to interrupt but where is Santi?"
Gio and I look at each other and I shrug "haven't seen him since yesterday. He didn't come to training the morning so I just figured he was still mad."
Rayan sits down in the chairs by the door and sighs "I sent him an email that needs to be approved. It's time-sensitive and he knows that. You'd think his attitude wouldn't hinder him from his job." Rayan sighs "why is he even mad? What happened?"
"He didn't tell you?" I sarcastically ask while looking down at the same document that's been in front of me, for now, forty minutes
"No. After the two of you left I tried to go to his room and ask but he was with Laura and told me to fuck off so you know what I did," he mutters "I fucked off in case you wanted to know the answer."
