What People Think

It was 2 days til Halloween and lately Lily's head has been hurting. Lily hasn't spoken to the voice she heard because it hasn't responded. For Halloween there is a dance. All years can go. McGonagall thought if would be good for the houses to get along. It's not a dance per say it's more of a party. Even though most of the kids are acting like it's the Yule Ball. You don't have to dress up super fancy just not in their regular school robes. It will be set up like the Yule Ball. No big house tables and a dance floor.

Lily is sitting in the great hall studying and getting away from all her cousins and her brothers.Lysander Walks up to her, "Hey Luna you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine just a little headache.So what's up?" Lily responds

Suddenly he gets flustered and nervous, "Oh uhh yeah so I was wondering if you would ya know go to the Halloween dance with me?"

Lily smiles and blushes unnoticeably. When he asked she was really nervous but was good at not showing it. "Yeah sure Lynn sounds fun!"

He smiles big "Ok cool I'll meet you outside the Gryffindor common common at 6:00 now I have to go check on Lorcan and Louis to see if they got away with the prank they said they weren't planning oh and if your head keeps hurting go see Pomfrey" He walks away happy.

Jasmine runs up to Lily and almost knocks her over "OMG Lysander just asked you out!" She shakers Lily's arm. "This is soo great!"

James walks up walks up with James and Rox "What's great?" James asks

"Nothing Jamie-"

"Lils got a date to the Halloween dance!" Jasmine said smiling at Lily

Smacks Jasmine's arm "It's not a date per say it's going as friends...together?whatever doesn't matter" Looks at James "soo don't say what you're about to say thank you" gets up and glares at everyone before starts walking away with an apple then she hears jasmine's thoughts but doesn't realize and turns around "Jazz what did you say?" Lily asked confused

"I didn't say anything"

"Yeah ya did something about....?Nevermind I'll see you later" Lily says then walks away. Walks past students in the hall and heard their thoughts and a lot of them is about how Lily is a freak then gets sad and teary eyed and starts running until she bumps into Lysander "Lynn thank Merlin" hugs him tightly while crying.

Hugs her back tightly and kisses her head "It's okay,It's fine I'm here tell me what happened" she nods and he guides her to a bench in an empty hallway "So What happened Luna?" Lily would've been ecstatic that he kissed her head if she wasn't crying. He used to do it when they were younger but is stopped when they got older.

"I think I can hear people's thoughts first I heard Jazz's then I was walking down the hall and kids thoughts were just flowing in,mean thoughts" She sniffles "and they were calling me freaks" She sighs and looks down "I thought they would of forgot or forgave me for what I did to Goyle and you and Jazz but I guess not" she starts crying harder.

Lysander lifts her chin and looks into her eyes "It's ok Lily, we'll figure this out" suddenly he kisses her.

After a couple seconds she pulls away "Why'd you do that?"

"Because I like you. A lot. Always have and I hate to see you sad" Lysander said wiping a tear off her cheek with his thumb.

"I like you too....Thanks Lynn..for everything" Lily said with a sniffle.

"Anything for you Lily" he kisses her head then."Wanna head to the library? To do reasearch"

"Such way with words Lynn. You kissed me and then suggest to go and read books" Lily says and Lysander laughs.

Lily fake pouts "I thought you were going to help me?"

"Hmm I'm thinking about it" He gets cut off by her kissing him for a second then she pulls away "ok I'll help" he grabs her hand "let's go to the library" they walk to the library hand in hand.

After 2 hours of looking for books that could help or give them information they came up with nothing. "I didn't find anything Lynn did you?" Lily asks looking disappointed.

"No just normal legilimens stuff and we know you weren't born one and Minnie didn't teach you so I don't know let's just go and get some lunch" Lily nods and they walk to the great hall still holding hands.

Lily sits at the table and grabs a mini sandwich "maybe we should go ask Minnie maybe she could help?"

"Yeah after lunch" Lysander nods

Jasmine walks up and sees Lysander and Lily holding hands. I knew it!! I knew it!! Jasmine thought to herself. "Hey Lils what's up?" Jasmine asks implying their hands that are still laced. Lily pretends not to notice this.

"Oh well I guess I got a new power where I could read people's minds so stop screaming please" Lily asked as if it was no big deal.

"What?! Th- never mind tell me later anything else you want to establish?"

"Nope" Lily says smirking at Lysander. He rolls his eyes. After lunch and telling Jasmine that they were together(which they've established as they liked each other for years) they headed to McGonagall's office.

"So you can read minds"Lily nods "the necklace's power is in you so whatever powers that can be used for good will come and you will feel power ups at the end of every month near full moons and this power in particular will increase and by Halloween night you will be able to feel emotions not just read thoughts it could be a little bit overwhelming so if you don't feel good go see Madame Pomfrey to help you" Looks at the clock "If that's all you need then you better go enjoy this sunny Saturday" She smiles and they leave.

"I guess that helps? But getting new or updated powers every month?! That's a bit extreme" Lily said with a sigh

"It's ok Luna we'll do this together" Lysander said assuringly and Lily wrapped her arms around his neck.
