Chief Clancy arrived at the house several minutes later with two other officers. Grant was in the sitting room balling over while Fraser was ransacking the cupboards in the kitchen looking for some alcohol.

"Where's the body?" the Chief asked.

"Bodies upstairs... in the basement," Grant managed to say through his sobs.

One of the officers went downstairs to inspect the gruesome discovery. He came back up with a sullen expression and said, "Sir, you don't want to see what's downstairs. It's absolute hell," he said.

Chief Clancy, while comforting Grant, looked up and asked, "What did you find?"

Officer Pratt regained himself. "There's a body sir. Um...the bloody bastard had it cut up."

He felt anguish at the mentioning of the word 'cut.' Chief Clancy looked at his second officer, Officer Benson who was standing in the doorway.

"Shall I call in the others, sir?" she asked.

"Just Offices Kennedy and Bosworth," the Chief said.

Fraser came into the sitting room and looked at Chief Clancy glumly. "There's a severed head upstairs in the main bedroom. It's his daughter."

Chief's eyes sunk. Officers Benson and Pratt gave shocked expressions. Officer Benson rushed upstairs.

A harrowing cry of "Dear heavens!" was heard from above. She came back downstairs in shock and dismay.

"I was with Sheila when Grant called me over about an hour ago. I came over and saw the bloody carnage," Fraser said.

All eyes turned to Grant. The grief-stricken officer looked up. He stood up slowly and said tearfully, "I saw the head first, and Fraser saw it afterward."

Chief Clancy said to the officers, "Get him over to the station immediately."

Officer Benson and Grant calmly exited the house with Fraser behind them. A second squad car arrived.

Three more officers and a forensic specialist quickly entered the house. A couple of concerned neighbors were watched things unfold from outside. It wasn't every day they got to see such excitement.

Fraser sat in the back seat with his half-brother who was sobbing profusely. Fraser was silent throughout the entire drive and watched Grant. He displeased with his brother's sobbing and at the same time pissed with what had happened. He wasn't close with Grant, but his wife was someone who he considered a friend. Damn! He thought the night was too crazy.

They arrived at a four-story complex twenty minutes from Grant's home. Fraser was the first to step out. He rounded the squad car and opened the door. He gently took Grant out of the back seat.
