Fraser was in his car. The shotgun was in the passenger seat. He drove to Grant's house. When he arrived at the brick house, he saw Grant standing outside. The former officer was wearing his Garda jacket and had his stun gun on him. Fraser shut off the engine, exited the car and greeted Grant. The two went inside.
"It's been far too long since we've met the brother," Grant said happily.
"Likewise," Fraser said. "I have some news."
"Just a second while I get us some refreshments," Grant said.
He got up and went to the kitchen. He returned with two large glasses of orange juice mixed with vodka. He handed a glass to Fraser, who thanked him. After taking a sip, Fraser placed the glass on the table.
"I have some news regarding the whole thing," Fraser said.
"Such as," Grant said.
"I have the people who killed your family, Grant. I've found them. I want you to exact revenge on them."
Grant was silent. He had not expected his estranged half-brother to tell him such words. Grant was slowly and gradually getting used to his new reality. Now there was this bombshell he had to contend with.
"Grant," Fraser said. "Tell me something."
Grant was still silent. It was sinking in. Fraser took his glass of orange juice and drank a little more. He placed the glass back on the table.
"I want to know why you're telling me this," Grant said.
"I want payback," Fraser said. "I want them bastards to pay for what they've done. You need this Grant. I want justice for you and your family. As well as the grandchild you would have had."
Grant sighed. He stood up and began to pace back and forth. His mind was running through what Fraser just said. Fraser took his glass and drank a quarter more of the juice. He placed the glass down after.
"You know who these people are?" Grant finally said.
"Yeah," said Fraser. "Their names are James Taylor and Rosalyn Carter. James was an ex-con, and Rosalyn is his girlfriend. Rosalyn is the mastermind behind it while James her boy toy."
Grant silently nodded. He sat back down. He was calmed and took another sip of his drink. He was deep in thought.
"What are you thinking?" Fraser said.
"I'm not sure," Grant said. "
Fraser was silent, but he knew he would break. The man was almost gone withthe loss and had nothing else to hold on to.
