it you don't feel like every part of you is loved when you stand next to them, move an inch away. stand apart for a few seconds and reconcile with your feelings. ask them how their day is going. if they respond with "better," move a foot away. if each step taken lightens the weight of your stomach, keep walking. if each stride away from them make your heart flutter like the first time you saw them, start running. because at their side is not your home. a home should not tie bricks to your feet and ask you to fly high with them. a home should not dig inside of you to plant their seed and neglect to water it. a home should not promise to love you and then expect you to teach them when they don't want to learn how. a home should not feel the way they do, and a home will never feel the way they do. the way you should feel is the calmness as you start to slow down. cease your running, and begin walking again. each step taken will steady your heartbeat, and that is how it should feel. that is how your home will feel when you finally stop walking and come to a standstill. and at that standstill you will see what's been hidden from you, what you've always needed, what loves you the most.
