Harry sat by the window of the Hogwarts Express, gazing out of the door looking for Ron and Hermione. Everyone else was still outside, but Harry wanted to get the train ride over with so that he could get in and get some sleep. He got up and opened the sliding door to his compartment and looked up and down the train. It was completely desolate and somewhat haunting. If it weren't for the noise outside the open window, he'd have easily believed he was the last person on earth.

This little fantasy was disturbed by a figure walking down the hall, hood up and head down. They looked sad, and in a hurry to be off the train just like Harry. The emerald lining the black robes told Harry that this person was a slytherin and that he ought not to care. But he does anyway. 'No one should feel miserable like me' Harry thought to himself as he approached the hooded figure.

"Hey, you okay?" He asked, placing a hand on their shoulder. "Don't touch me Potter." The boy pulled away and removed his hood. "Malfoy! What..." Harry cut himself off as he noticed the red enveloping Draco's misty grey eyes. They were puffy and there were black stains on his face. He'd been crying... A lot. "What's wrong?" Harry asked gently. "Why would you think anything's wrong?" Draco sneered, obviously not wanting to show weakness to his enemy. "Your eyes are red and puffy, you have black tear streaks down your face, your hair isn't as neat as normal, your robes aren't pristine, your tie is hanging out of your bag slightly, and your wand is hiding up your sleeve as if your waiting for someone to attack you" Harry stated simply while Draco looked at him in shock, before his expression turned neutral and his stance rigid. "I don't know what you mean, Potter, but I suggest you move before I hex you." He snarled before pushing past and storming off.

Hermione and Ron boarded the train just in time to see Draco push Harry and instantly ran up to him? "Are you alright?" Hermione asked, flustered. "Sly little git" Ron muttered angrily. "Don't be so hard on him Ron, I think he's hiding something big." His two best friends looked at him in shock before Harry and Hermione started laughing, much to Rons confusion. "I don't get it what's so funny?" He asked. "Gay joke" was all Harry could say through the joyous tears as Ron rolled his eyes and shoved them into the compartment Harry was previously in.

Hermione and Ron chatted away animatedly as Harry gazed out the window, lost in thought. The first few times, the others were concerned and kept asking him what was wrong. Eventually they realised it was gonna happen all the time and decided to leave him to it. Ron's stomach growled so loud that it jolted Harry out of his daze. "That means the trolleys gonna be here in a sec" Ron laughed. As if on cue, a voice from the door asked "anything from the trolley dears?" Ron reached into his pocket but all he could scramble was 1 sickle that was so dirty it was almost black and 4 knuts. Harry scoffs and pulls out his coin bag before ordering all of Rons favourites. "Thanks mate" Ron says with a mouthful of chocolate frog. "Anytime" Harry smiled and resumed day dreaming of a life away from Surrey.

The train began to slow and Harry felt his whole body go limp in disappointment but tense in fear at the same time. He grabbed his bag and Hedwig before the three of them moved single file on to the platform. He reclaimed his trunk and trolley, then waiting with the others for their parents. As they stood at the barrier between platforms 9 and 10, a cheery voice called out "Ron, Harry, Hermione, how are you all?" Mrs Weasley bustled towards them almost in a hurry. "We're brilliant thank you Mrs Weasley, I'm just glad we could save Sirius from the Department of Mysteries. Although I'm not sure if the brain had an effect on Ronald or not, but he seems to be more capable of feeling emotions" Hermione answered formally with a small laugh. She never knew how to act around the Weasley family and was always polite. "We have to hurry, Bill and Fleur are on their way. Make sure you write this time Harry!" Mrs Weasley called as she lead Ron to join the rest of the red headed family before they got into the repaired Ford Anglia where Mr Weasley was waiting.

Hermione and Harry were now left alone on the platform. All of a sudden, a swarm of students passed by and separated them. Harry could have sworn he saw Pansy go up to Hermione. Their faces were so close it looked like she was threatening her. Before Harry could get over, everyone was gone again. "What the fuck was that? Why was she talking to you?" Harry asked, anger and concern flowing through his whole body. "I, er, I don't know what you mean. I mean, she was just... you know... being a slytherin?" Hermione answered, almost questioning whether that was a good enough answer. Harry gave her a strange look before commenting "it seemed like she was threatening you, that's all." Hermiones eyes lit up instantly like she'd had the best idea. "Yes! That's exactly what she did, I just didn't know how to tell you! She threatened to... beat me up if I didn't... buy her flowers to give her boyfriend before I went home" she finished happily. Harry gave her a strange look before shaking his head and laughing. "You are a terrible liar Mrs Parkinson" Harry laughed even more as Hermione turned bright red and became agitated and flustered. "What? I- no! No way!" She began arguing before seeing the look Harry gave her. "How long has it been?" Harry asked to which Hermione mumbled "since second year." During the cat-polyjuice incident, Pansy left a single flower next to Hermione before running out of the hospital wing. When Hermione picked it up, it transformed from a simple white rose to a piece of parchment.
Hey Granger,
It's Pansy, although obviously you knew that. I just wanted to say that I hope you get better soon. And that I'm sorry for always being mean it's just... I don't know how to say this but.... when I like someone, I'm mean to them because I'm scared of them rejecting me so I pretend like I don't even like them. But I had to say this to you: as soon as I heard Draco laughing about how you were in the hospital wing, my heart sank and I was flooded with fear. I had to see you. But this made me realise that I couldn't hide forever because you never know what's around the corner. So here goes- Hermione Jean Granger, I like you. A lot. Would you consider being my girlfriend?

Pansy Parkinson x
P.S. I'd rather keep it a secret that I like you
P.P.S. You can write yes or no on the reverse of the page and I will see it.

Hermiones face had lit up at the letter and wrote back:
Yes! A thousand times yes! I wanted to ask you myself but I could never find the courage because I thought you hated me. Girls bathroom, second floor, 7pm on the day I'm released. You'll see me that day so you'll know! I'm so excited!I'm not even gonna tell Harry or Ron so don't worry

Love, Hermione xx

Hermione finished explaining to Harry how it happened. "So 3 years?" He asked astounded. "Yea, coming up to 4" Hermione blushed. "How did you hide it?" Harry questioned. Hermione opened her mouth to explain but she spotted her parents and hurriedly whispered "please don't mention it around my parents, they're huge homophobes! They'll kill me if they knew!" Harry could see the urgency and fear in Hermiones eyes and for the first time in 5 years, he wondered if everything was okay for Hermione at home. Not that she knew what it was really like at the Dursleys, and he couldn't tell her. "I won't say a thing, I promise." Hermione smiled with relief and said bye to Harry with a hug before running off to her parents. He began making mental notes. Hermione is standing dead straight, unnaturally, her arms tight to her sides. Brief hug and cheek kiss before walking off almost as if in formation. It feels off...

Harry told himself to remember to owl Hermione and ask what was going on. If he could that is. Now that everyone had been picked up, Harry could finally go back to Hell and try get some sleep.... or so he hoped.
