Harry woke up early with a start barely getting 30 minutes of sleep. More nightmares. He wanted to cry. But instead he smiled through the tears as he sat up. He silently got changed and headed to the great hall for the first time since they started school a week ago, expecting it to be empty at this hour. But to his surprise, a certain blonde boy was sitting alone at a table with his nose in a book and a sandwich half way to his mouth, completely forgotten about. Seeing that he hadn't been spotted, he snuck up behind Draco and scared him. "Fucking hell Harry!" He yelled as he jumped up from his seat, book and sandwich falling to the floor. A few ghosts gave them pitying smiles while others gave them looks of disgust. A Gryffindor and Slytherin friendship. "Morning Draco." Harry sat down followed suit by his friend. He noticed the book was on potions. "Can you give me a hand with studying?" He asked. "Why? Your suddenly amazing at potions." Draco replied. "My book doesn't exactly help with theory. All of the instructions have been changed slightly so it wouldn't be correct. I don't wanna let Slughorn down" Harry laughed. With that, the boys began taking and exchanging notes for about an hour before students began entering the hall. Whispers started instantly. The Death Eaters son and the Chosen One.

Draco was bombarded with questions, as was Harry. "Draco what's going on? Why are you studying with him of all people? Are you mental?" Blaise Zabini. Harry couldn't stand him. He was far too arrogant. Even when they were enemies, Draco was never like that. There was always a soft smirk instead of a harsh smile and an undertone of messing around. "Dracooooo, I always ask you to help me studyyyy!" Whined Astoria. She had the biggest "secret crush" ever. "Look just back off. Harry ain't bad alright. Blaise, go find your little sister and fuck her before running home to mummy whore and sucking her next customer off, and Astoria how many times do I have to say I don't like you? And even if I did I wouldn't date you because I'd be getting cheated on every two days as you go around sucking off half the guys in the school and shoving your fingers up some little boys arse." Draco said simply without looking up from the book. "You wanna go through polyjuice potion next or draught of living death again?" Harry was still in shock from Draco's statements. That was fucking harsh. Oh well. "Umm, I'm alright for polyjuice so let's rerun the draught." He answered. "Alright."

Blaise sat down as far from Draco as he could with pure anger in his eyes. Astoria shrugged off what was said and merely claimed he was "blind to his feelings" and "he didn't mean a word of it" as she went to comfort Blaise. After the Slytherin hustle cleared, a new Gryffindor one started. "Harry what the hell? Me mam said you were mad but I never believed her until now" Seamus yelled heavily in his brogue while Dean shook his head disapprovingly. Ron could be seen behind them at the table glaring at them with hatred. Hermione waited for the whole ordeal to finish before sitting with the boys. "Harry how long have you been here? I didn't see you in the common room this morning." Hermione asked. "About an hour and a half" he replied casually. "Why were you up so early?" She looked worried. "Just excitement probably" he smiled comfortingly. Convincingly. They finished breakfast and headed to classes.

The first few classes went normally, apart from the odd glare about breakfast with Draco. Eventually, it was time for the first lesson of two that day that they shared : potions. As Harry approached the class, he noticed Draco already there. "How?" He called as he approached. "How what?" Draco smiled. "How do you always get wherever we're going first?" Harry laughed. The two hugged. Draco felt more comfortable with Harry now and he felt safer being seen hugging him than he had that day at Madame Malkins. "Guess I'm just better than you" he smirked triumphantly. "Oh shut up" Harry laughed as he gave Draco a playful punch on the arm. They continued talking until the rest of the class turned up and Slughorn let them in. Good thing Harry had asked for help with the Draught of Living Death because that was their theory test. As he read through the questions, he smiled over at Draco who returned it and gave him a thumbs up. There was only one thing he struggled with. Spelling. Slughorn left the class to go to the potions supply room quickly and Harry turned towards Draco. "Psst! Draco! Need help." Looking over, he asked what with. "How in fucks name do you spell sopophorus? As in the bean?" But before Draco could answer, Slughorn returned. So he used his quill and wrote it sideways on his hand so that when he rested his hand on the desk, Harry could read it. 'Genius!' He thought as he copied it down. Hermione saw and scoffed quietly while continuing her paper. By the end of class, Harry was feeling confident with his answers and handed over his test with a smile. They all left for the great hall.

Except Harry and Draco. Originally Harry was going to go for a fly around the forest but instead he found himself being dragged to the dungeons. "This is the first chance I have to show you what happened the day after we arrived." As they approached a wall, Harry saw a large graffiti item covering the whole thing. A picture depicting Salazar Slytherin holding Harry's decapitated head with a dead Draco on the floor under his boot. The sight made Harry lean on a pillar for support since he felt like throwing up. After regaining composure, he simply accio'd a set of spray paints and got to work. Draco was amazed at Harry's skill. Magic was used to make the first one, and enchanted so it couldn't be washed away. But muggle painting? They didn't prepare for. He painted himself and Draco, a snake around both their necks, it's head in Harry's hand and a lion and his cub lying in front of the two boys, the cub jumping up at Draco who gave it attention. Finally finished, Harry stepped back, stretching his hand and throwing the spray paint down. The old mural no longer existed. "Wait! I know how to finish this piece!" Draco said excitedly as he picked up a silver spray. He wrote: NO MORE STEREOTYPES! In cursive, Harry then took a gold one and gently created a 3D effect with it. He also added an eagle on Draco's shoulder and a badger on Harry's head, burrowing in his hair.

Underneath Draco's message, Harry added smaller in black: new year, new us

I'm so sorry this took forever, I had major writers block but I think I'm getting some ideas. I'm putting a trigger warning here though, this includes self harm, physical, mental and sexual abuse. But putting this dark arse story aside, have an amazing day!
