Harry and Hermione walked to the library in silence. He couldn't shake the flashbacks from his mind. His heart was still pounding as he walked. His mind was going back to the dark places again but he didn't want anyone to worry. About 10 minutes after they'd sat down, Harry excused himself and went to the bathroom. He sat in the cubicle trying to calm his breathing down.

~~Trigger warning~~

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a blade. He promised he wouldn't do it again but... he felt like he was going crazy. He needed a release. Just one. But it's never just one. As he brought the blade along his skin, the sight of the blood oozing out relaxed him and before he knew it, he was littered again. He suddenly worried and ran to the sink to wash away the blood covering his arm. Thankfully none were too deep that he was in any danger. But he still washed them and bandaged them to prevent infection. That was the last thing he needed, since everyone would find out. He dried his eyes and took a shaky breath before heading back to meet Hermione in the library once again. He forced himself to put on a smile. "Are you alright Harry? You were gone a while." She was determined to keep an eye on him after what they found out at the hospital wing. But of course Harry was more shut off to everyone than ever. They still hadn't told Draco either. "Yeah I'm fine" he smiled as he took a seat and opened his book again. Hermione was doubting him, but chose not to pressure him. They carried on working in silence before their next class. "Hermione, you go to lesson. I'm gonna go check on Draco" he said and ran off without giving her a chance to reply.

He stopped off in the bathroom and quickly changed his bandages for fresh ones and knocked lightly on the dorm room door. "Draco?" The blonde boy couldn't hear Harry over the music blasting through his head phones. It was the only way to drown out the voices. Harry slowly pushed it open and was met with Draco singing softly. The songs melody reached him and he recognised it instantly. He walked in properly and Draco scrambled to stop the music. "Oh- Harry! Are you okay? Don't you have class?" Harry laughed softly. "I'm supposed to but I came to check up on you. Never really had you down as a Fall Out Boy kinda dude" The other boys cheeks flushed a shade of red. "I- well umm- okay yea I listen to muggle music a lot, what of it?" Draco really didn't get the point here. Instead, Harry pulled him up out of bed and turned on the speaker on the cabinet, shutting the door and casting muffliato. He put the song on full volume and began dancing. "Come on Dray! Have some fun!"

Strike a match and I'll burn you to the ground
We are the jack-o-lanterns in July
Setting fire to the sky
Here it comes this rising tide

As they let go of all of their worries and their cares, they began to realise how much they could relate to the song itself.

Cross walks and crossed hearts and hope-to-dies
Silver clouds with grey linings

Similar thoughts crossed both boys minds as they heard the way the other sang the lyrics. 'I wonder if he wants to die?'

Hey young blood, doesn't it feel like our time is running out?
I'm gonna change you like a remix
Then I'll raise you like a phoenix

Harry sung those words directly at Draco, and hearing the possibility of him changing, as the metaphor suggested, enough to be something new, but not too much that he wasn't himself anymore, it gave him a lot of hope. Being changed into something good and pure. 'Could Harry really restore my sense of purity? Is it even possible to come back from this?'

Wearing our vintage misery
No, I think it looked a little better on me
I'm gonna change you like a remix
Then I'll raise you like a phoenix

It was Draco's turn to direct lyrics at Harry. Miserable didn't suit him at all, and hearing Draco agreed? It made him want to be happy. A chance to change... not to change who he was, but to change his outlook. To burn brightly and to be positive and happy. A beacon of hope. That's what those words meant to him. They meant a chance at a new life.

"You broke our spirit, " says the note we pass

They may both be broken souls, broken spirits, but they weren't going to lie there and wallow in self pity. They were going to let everyone know that they weren't going through their struggles alone.

The war is won, before it's begun
Release the doves, surrender love

If you accepted that your life was the way it is now, then there was no getting better. But if you choose to fight against it, then the war truly is won. Love will always prevail.

Love will always prevail.

"Harry... thank you" it was all the blonde haired boy could say. "I'm the one who needs to thank you Draco." They both laughed a little and hugged each other tightly. "Listen- Harry, I think... i think im gonna be okay. I cant let what happened consume my life. If I've got you it'll be fine" The smile that spread across Harry's face was indescribable. He was just happy to know he could help the fragile, hurting boy in front of him. It gave him Just one reason to keep on living.

For now.
