It was the first day of the new term. Harry was practically jumping around the house with joy. All of his stuff was still packed, so all he had to do was get all of his books and his wand and firebolt. Once he was done, he threw a rattling ball into the tunnel, signalling for Draco to come down, who'd packed the night before. Wordlessly, the two boys left for Kings Cross. They turned the corner and Draco threw off the cloak with a huge smile on his face. "I can't believe we did that! I just stayed at your house for the whole holidays and no one knew!" He laughed happily. "Listen, Draco. What's gonna happen when we go back to Hogwarts? Are we gonna still be friends or go back to being enemies?" As if he'd just been told someone had died, Draco's face fell. He hadn't expected to befriend the boy during this time. What will happen? "I mean I want to stay friends but your in Slytherin and I'm in Gryffindor... I really don't wanna ruin what we have. It's up to you." Harry said looking down. "My father has already kicked me out, I've got nothing to lose. I don't have to worry about reputation anymore. We'll stay friends." Harry smiled gleefully as the unlikely friends made their way to the station.

As the Hogwarts Express pulled in, Harry couldn't see his friends anywhere. He couldn't wait to tell them the good news. Getting tired of standing, the two boys went inside and found an empty compartment. "Hey I've got an idea, let's scare the others! Put my cloak on and when I say.... pancakes take it off!" Draco beamed and threw it on. Just as they managed to contain their laughter, the door was opened by Hermione. Ron sat next to Harry and Hermione sat opposite him. Thank god they didn't sit on Draco! "So Hermione, hows everything at home?" Harry asked. Curiously, she went stiff and rigid. Her eyes lost their sparkle and her entire expression was neutral. She stared blankly as she said "everything's really good. I cannot wait to see them next holidays." It was the exact same answer she always gave, with the exact same tone. Ron, stuffing his face with a cheese and ham sandwich, didn't even notice the blatant lie. But then again Harry didn't until just now, unless you count his hunch at the station 6 weeks ago. "Are you sure 'Mione? You seem off." Harry decided to question. Ron looked up and all three boys noticed tears in her eyes. "Yes I'm sure. I'm probably just coming down with a cold or something." She said monotonously.

Deciding to cheer up the mood, Harry thought of the perfect way to bring up pancakes. "Let's play Alphabet Food!" He said excitedly as Hermiones eyes lit up and Ron looked utterly confused. Draco was the same under the cloak. "Basically you say a food begin with a letter of the alphabet in order. I'll go first. Apple." Harry then turned to Hermione. "Banana" She then turned to Ron who said "Chicken?" Causing a raucous laugh to escape both Harry and Hermione. It carried on
"Duck"
"Egg"
"Fish?"
"Gammon" Ron interrupted with "what's gammon?" Being brought up poor in the wizarding world, he probably didn't eat everything the same as muggles. "It's a really nice type of meat." Hermione explained. "Somewhat a salty taste, all naturally that is." She was about to go into a rant! "Okay Hermione, Ron gets it now." She appeared somewhat dismayed but left it.
"Horse Radish"
"Ice cream"
"Jelly"
"King prawns"
"Lemon"
"Maple syrup"
"Nachos"
"Orange"
"Pancakes" Harry said. Just as Hermione was about to say the next word, Draco pulled off the cloak, causing Hermione to scream and Ron to pull her over to him. Harry and Draco burst out laughing. "Niceeee! Here, I'll put my cloak back in my bag." Harry said through the tears of laughter. "WHAT THE FUCK HARRY! THATS MALFOY! DO YOU NOT SEE THAT?" He was infuriated. "I do see that thank you Ronald. Now I'd appreciate it if you would be nicer to my new friend." The other two were completely shocked. Using his wand to pull down the compartment blind, Draco cast muffliato on the walls. "What I'm about to tell you is top secret, okay? You can't repeat this to anyone. I need your word." Silence. "I need your word guys!" Ron got up and left the compartment, but Hermione stayed. "I promise." She said. Harry breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you. So to put it simply, Lucius Malfoy was attempting to force the Dark Mark on Draco. He refused." Harry was cut off quickly by Draco lifting his sleeves and casting Finite Incantartum to prove there was no mark. Hermione seemed to believe them. "So his father kicked him out. I went to Kings Cross to... get this one really nice drink I wanted when I saw Draco asleep on the station. I invited him to live with me over the holidays and he did. That's how we've bonded." Harry explained extremely briefly. "So he's good now?" Hermione confirmed. "Yes he is" Harry replied confidently. "And Hermione I'm sorry for everything I said to you before. My father forced me to uphold a reputation that I hated. Your one of the smartest witches I know, and honestly you're quite pretty too. I hate myself for what I've done to you and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me." Draco said with full honesty. "If Harry can see good in you then so can I Draco." Hermione smiled as the boys face lit up.

The train slowly pulled into Hogwarts station and the three of them approached the carriages together. They received very confused looks but chose to ignore them as they clambered into one. They watched out for Ron but he just walked past like they weren't there. Solemnly, they all approached the castle in silence.
