San Francisco, California.

I sat on the kitchen stool while Ummi prepared pancakes for me since she wouldn't let me do anything. She wouldn't even let me feed Hibba or change her diaper, according to her I was here to rest. Miss Maria, her maid too assisted in taking care of Hibba all the time and me too. Miss Maria is one of the nicest person's I've met. Shes an elderly woman in her mid fifties and had kids too but lost her husband years back.

"You miss him, right?" I once asked her while she was preparing supper.

"All the time" she replied in her thick American accent.

"Assalamu Alaikum" Yusuf's voice cut me off from my chains of thought.

"Wa alaikumussalam" we replied him.

"Eat your pancakes and let's take a stroll"

"Alright. Care for some?" I offered him

"Don't make her walk for too long please. And nobody is sharing that pancake with you sweetie" Ummi said

"Ummmiiiii" he whined

She put more pancakes on my plate and told us to eat together. We finished up and he cleared the plates before we set out to leave.

San Francisco was a beautiful city, even though I prefer staying indoors because of the weather but then the evening strolls were compulsory. We had our time alone, sometimes chattering or just walking quietly with our own thoughts. But these made me look forward to the evenings everyday. We had toured around the city and he showed me all his favourites places. He showed me his high school and even his first girlfriends house.

"She's married now" he had said out of the blue

"That's good for her" I said showing a sigh of relief

"What were you scared of?"

"Nothing. She was just an old high school lover afterall" I smiled

I wrapped my veil properly before strapping my shoes and we set out to leave. We stopped by at Mrs Ingawas' residence to say hi. She's Ummi's closest friend here in SanFrancisco and she has 6 boys and a girl. The first time we went to visit her, the whole house reminded me of my family. The fact they spoke fulbe fluently made feel at home more.

"Alhamdulillah this wedding was postponed to this time. How can you not be here during my wedding?" Khadee said angrily

"It's not as if I'm not coming dee. I'm just coming a bit late"

"Just know I'm angry. But I'll still forgive you later. How's my baby?"
