Trigger warning - bullying/homophobia

Gerard's P.O.V.

"Hey, Pansy." I said as Frank sat down next to me.

"Shut up, you gay loser." Frank laughed, keeping his voice down.

"Either way, we both have one dead parent and our sexualities are hated by most of America." I said and Frank nudged me.

"That took a dark turn. You okay, Gee?" Frank asked and I pulled out my sketchbook and a pencil.

"57." I sighed, opening to a blank page.

"57?" Frank repeated in confusion.

"57 people have apologised in the past 3 hours. I knew less than half of their names, including the teachers." Frank sighed this time and I started drawing, not actually thinking about it.
"I'm probably just gonna go home. I'm tired of all the fake smiles and pity."

"Stay for lunch and then I'll drive you." Frank shrugged.

"What's the point in me staying for lunch and then you being late to lesson?" I asked and he smirked.

"I feel like skipping anyway. None of my teachers care anyway, I'm ahead of everyone else." He leaned against the desk.
"So how about, we get lunch then I take you to this really cool ice cream place, then I'll drop you off at home?"

"I didn't bring any money with me." I shrugged, looking at the drawing. It was a kind of alien, I think. Either way it was badass.

"So? My treat." I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Come on, I really want ice cream right now. If you come with me, I won't look like a pathetic loser going to buy ice cream on my own. It's just sad."

"You are a pathetic loser." I laughed slightly and he gasped.

"I'm really hurt, Gee. You're so mean to me." I rolled my eyes.

"Thank God you're not a drama student." I muttered.

"Why? I was considering joining drama." He pouted.

"Hey guys." A blond boy with crystal blue eyes sat opposite us. About half the class were looking at us and uneasiness swirled in my stomach.
"You look like you're having fun over here."

"We were talking." Frank sassed and I closed my sketchbook.

"You looked pretty happy, considering..." The blond looked at me and I looked down.
"I wouldn't be surprised if you faked it. You've never exactly got attention, so maybe this was your way of-"

"Shut your fucking mouth." Frank spat.

"Excuse me?" The blond asked and now all eyes were on us. Where the Hell was Mr. Green?

"You're excused." Frank sassed and the whole class burst into giggles.

"I don't know who you think you are-"

"I don't know who you think I am, but I know I'm Frank Iero and I'm about 10 seconds away from kicking your ass." He practically growled and I grabbed his sleeve.

"Frank, you're causing a scene." I muttered.

"Listen to your emo boyfriend, midget." The blond scoffed.
"You know what, I wouldn't be surprised if he has you convinced too. His mommy didn't die, she probably just left because she realised what a fuckup her kid was."

"Jake, you're going too far, man." Another blond boy said quietly.

"Really? Because I'm pretty sure I've hit the emo fag where it hurts." Jake laughed and Frank moved too fast for me to react. Girls screeched as they started to fight and the other blond boy tried to separate them. When I tried to help, Frank elbowed me in the face, which seemed to make him stop pretty quickly.

"Shit." He let go of Jake and I grabbed our stuff, dragging him out of the classroom.
"Gerard, did I hurt you? I'm so sorry."

"I'm fine." I muttered, handing him his bag. He had a bloody nose and a bruising eye.

"Christ, your cheek." He muttered.
"That's gonna bruise pretty bad, I'm so sorry."

"You didn't have to start a fight." I sighed.
"If we had ignored him, he would have just gone away. It's my fault, anyway."

"No, Gerard. It's not." Frank grabbed my arm and stopped me.
"Let's just go to my car, I'll drive you home, okay?"

"I'm gonna walk." Frank frowned.
"See you later, Frank."

"Gerard, come on. You live a good 30 minute walk away. It will barely take 10 minutes in my car." He tried.

"No thanks. I need to think." I walked off, pulling my phone out of my pocket and my headphones.
When in doubt, blast music unnecessarily loud.
