A/N: I know this is short and doesn't really go into details. But the next chapter will be an actual episode and backstory will be casually added in.

Thanks for reading!

White, that's all she saw when she awoke. White filling in from several directions. Turning her head, she saw a vase of poppies beside her. No note. Just sitting there.

"Ah, welcome back to the world of the living miss," She squinted at the figure sat down in a chair in the corner. Watching her.

"Where am I?" her voice sounded strange. English. She was sure she was raised in America. Her mum wasn't American though... She lost her train of thought. Why couldn't she remember her own mother?

"You're in a hospital," the doctor (she assumed she was one, she was wearing a lab coat) "A woman found you passed out in the street and brought you here. Do you know your name and age?" Her eyes darted around the room. The letters P and W were coming to her. Her eyes caught the vase beside her bed yet again and the doctor's watch.

"Poppy Watcher," that didn't sound right. She'd committed to the name now. Her age however... "18," that's one of the only things she was sure about.

"Well we have no record of you and you seem in perfectly good condition so we'll ask you some questions before we release you,"

----------&----------

And ask her questions they did. Poppy just said she didn't know. Something that she was already growing tired of. The doctors didn't help at all. They just sent her off with a map of London.

"NHS my arse," Poppy muttered as she stepped into to street. She was wearing what she was found in. The only thing she cared about was the necklace around her neck, she didn't know why. But it was special.

"You're the girl I found," A woman who looked slightly older than her with ginger came up to her and put her hand out "I'm Donna,"

"Hi," Poppy shook it "thanks for that by the way,"

"Look, I'm not this nice, but my family said I should be hospital towards you. Whatever that means," Poppy just stood there awkwardly "do you somewhere to stay?"

"Ummm no," she still hasn't come to terms with what was happening "I can't remember a lot. Or anything for that matter,"

"Mum said you could stay in the spare room," Poppy goes to protest "and if you don't have a job yet and can't pay. She just wants you to help out around the house,"
"Okay..."

And that's how Poppy Watcher made her first friend and Donna Noble made her only real friend.
