Chapter 31
My mind stirs to and suddenly I gasp a large breath of air flinging forward from where I was laying. Pain shoots through my body and I instantly groan reaching behind me to touch the source. "You're awake" it takes me a moment to realize my surroundings, for some strange reason I was in Rika's throne room. What happened?
Startling me a hand waves in front of my face and I flinch. I turn my head towards the person that was trying to capture my attention. Saeran sits quietly beside me observing my every movement. His face appeared emotionless, but I could clearly see his concern. I sit up further from where I was laying, but Saeran stops me forcing me back down on the bed.
"You were hurt pretty bad Y/n just relax" Saeran muttered calmly. "What happened?" I question finally finding my voice, but I instantly close my mouth. Breathing already felt terrible but talking was a whole new level of pain. "I... don't know. By the time I arrived Rika was sending V and my brother to the dungeon." "Dungeon?! We have to-" Saeran clasps his hand over my mouth "you don't want to get caught awake. Rika is planning to do your cleansing after you wake up." I nod my head in understanding and Saeran let's his hand slip from my mouth.
Taking small breaths I think to myself. "How am I alive?" "We have a medical team in Mint Eye so they attended to you bullet wound. You're lucky nothing vital was damaged, Rika explained that you got in the way of her aim when she was attacking her intruders. Is that true?" I exhale heavily "she tried to kill Saeyoung and I, then V. I tired to save him but-" I wince and Saeran nods his head "I understand, you tried to push V and yourself out of the way, but it was too late."
Saeran stands from the chair he was sitting in then sighs "Saeran" I grab ahold of his sleeve frowning. He looks down at me in response "we have to save them..." "Y/n, you're being irrational. You're injured, it's best we wait" pulling firmly on Saeran I prop myself up. "But this maybe the only chance we get-" I grunt forcing myself to stand my body feeling stiff.
"Y/n..." "I'm fine... I can do this- we can do this" I smile courageously still gripping Saeran's sleeve. Saeran holds his gaze with mine then sighs not wanting to accept my words. "Ok, but" Saeran pulls me along towards one of the large cabinets, opening it. Large black robes that I recognize that the believers wear lay neatly side by side on hooks. Saeran takes one of the robes out pulling it off the hook "we need to make sure you're hidden."
"Nice thinking Saeran" I smile as Saeran helps me into the robe careful to not agitate my wound. I inhale heavily easing the pain as I run my hands along my new clothes flattening out the creases. I turn to Saeran only to see him stuffing some robes under the bed sheets I used to lay under. I look at him questionably as he turns to face me, but then it clicks in my head that he's trying to make it look like I was still laying there.
"Are you okay to walk?" I nod my head firmly pulling the hood over my head to cover my face. "Don't worry about me. I'll push through. Besides, my upper back was shot, not my legs so I should be fine. I'll let you know if it's too much" "thank you" Saeran states with relief as he made his way towards the door. Standing behind him I breathe in shakily "everything will be okay. Just follow me and let me talk for you" Before I could speak Saeran opens the door and I quickly follow behind him. Saeran walked at a quick pace as we made our way down the hallways. As we walked I could feel the bandages wrapped around me tightly, beginning to rub against my skin as I swayed my arms.
I bite down on my lips firmly trying to focus on the pressure on my lips rather then my back. Saeran pushes open two double doors and once they were closed we dash down the stairs. The light started to become less and less and the walls had become musty bricks rather then a rich white dry wall. "We're almost there" Saeran whispered taking a sharp turn leading me down the hallway.
