Y/n' POV

Luciel answered the door as I brought myself closer to the couch, hiding myself from the view of the stranger. A part of me wanted to walk straight to the door to see who it was, but I'm reminded of when I first started living with Luciel. His words were to never answer the door and hide when he's answering it. I guess it was for my own safety.

I watched Luciel like a hawk as he spoke quietly at the door blocking the view of whoever was standing on the other side. Suddenly Luciel stepped back. Is he letting the stranger in? Who is it? Is it Vanderwood? Questions flooded my mind one after another but they soon stopped when I saw him.

"V?"

I instantly came out from where I was hiding, Luciel closing the door behind him. "Y/n..." I was somewhat happy and relieved to finally see him until he spoke. His voice sounded sad and his face looked pitiful. I stood from the couch slightly irritated by his expression. Did he come to apologize? Did Luciel intend this?

I approached V and he glanced towards Luciel. "Luciel do you mind if we have a moment?" V muttered in a soft tone. Luciel stared at me slightly hesitant to leave but then nodded turning to walk away. Once Luciel was out of sight V let out a shaky sigh. He was nervous.

"What are you doing here V?"I asked, my tone coming out harsher then I intended. V slightly jerked back giving me space and stood silently thinking of what to say. "I came because I wanted to apologize." I instantly clutch my fists my nails digging into my skin like daggers.

"For what now?" I questioned, V stood silently. "Don't you think you apologized enough? You've left Luciel and I in the dust at this point V!" I shout. "Yes, I know but you need to understand that things are better left unsaid " V stated firmly "so you're going to force Luciel to stray away from his brother even though we both know that he's perusing dangerous things?! That's not right!"

V swallows hard raising his hands in front of him "Y/n calm down." I bring my finger tips to the bridge of my nose pinching it "V you seriously don't get it do you? Is that secret so important that your going to let Luciel suffer in wonder?" V frowned letting his eyes dart away from mine when I make eye contact.

We were left in silence for a moment then I decided to speak up regrettably. "If you have nothing else to say I think you should leave" I turn my back towards V "I thought you were someone I could rely on, but I can see you're just like dad."

Wait.

"I didn't expect someone like you to understand" V snapped back with anger. I guess what I had said hurt him more than I expected. I turn towards him "what's that supposed to mean? Someone like me?" V clutches his fists "exactly what it meant. You're always so stubborn and a pain to deal with."

V's words hit hard and I found myself dropping my gaze towards the floor as he continued to throw more insult towards me. It didn't really matter because what I had feared to happened, did.

Burden.

That's exactly what I am; to my father, V, Rika, Luciel, just... everyone. I was nothing more than a burden on everyone's lives. If I had died off in that fire so many years ago I bet everyone would've been happier.

You're a burden.

Why was it so hard to accept hearing it when I already knew? My eyes began to fill with tears and a whimper escaped my lips. V suddenly stopped in his tracks with surprise. I run pass him and head for the door "wait, Y/n! I'm sorry!"

It didn't matter I had already shut the door behind me and was dashing down the dark road. A part of me knew that V and I were just upset at each other and we didn't mean it, but my legs wouldn't stop running. I wanted to get away where no one knew where I was. Somewhere so I could stop being a nuisance.
