Love Can Drop Dead (Sequel to DBNO)

Chapter 7

I held onto Adrian's hand as he walked in front, while I held Summer's hand as she was walking behind me. We had made a chain so that none of us would get lost, while Adrian led us through the crowd to the main stage to wait for the next half an hour until You Me At Six came on. He was doing his best to search for a great place and hurried over when he found one, which made us all yelp as we were dragged behind him.

Adrian had found an empty spot to the right of the stage, which would give us a good view of Max and Matt, since they tended to stay on this side of the stage whenever they played, as they were always on Josh's left hand side at shows. I saw the little raised platform with the drum kit where Dan would soon sit and Summer jumped up and down next to me, even though they weren't on yet, but some band called Crystal Castles were. The woman- who I'm assuming is the lead singer- had purple hair cut into a bob and was wearing what looked like leather clothes and heavy boots. I frowned before exchanging a glance with Adrian who was standing next to me on my left. We both giggled and I listened, before deciding that I was a little unsure about them. We both shrugged and I looked to see that Summer and Jeremy were on my right, while Jay and Anna were on Adrian's left.

"I'm so excited" I squealed, making my friends laugh as I jumped up and down, eager for the band to come onstage. Summer and I grinned at each other, both of us obviously happy to be spending time together again.

"I'm looking forward to it. Reading was amazing yesterday" she nodded and I gasped as I remembered she had been there.

"Oh yeah, how were the crowd?" I asked and she shrugged.

"A little quiet to begin with but it got better. Josh did this insane thing in one of the songs, and he mentioned that he was going to do it again" she shrugged and I nodded. Josh was good at what he did, and he was great at getting the crowd involved which was obvious in the many videos online. He may be a right pain everywhere in my body now, but I had to give him that because he was great at his job.

"Come here then Liz" Adrian said, a smile on his face when I frowned. He tapped his watch and I understood that it meant it was nearly time. Adrian and Jeremy helped me up onto his shoulders while Jeremy helped Anna onto Jay's shoulders. Once the two of us were balanced properly, Jay walked over so that Summer could take my hand and Anna's while Jay and Adrian helped hoist her onto Jeremy's shoulders while Anna and I pulled her up.

We all cheered when she was firmly on Jeremy's shoulders before the guys shuffled around so that I was in the middle, with Summer on my right and Anna on my left. The three of us smiled at each other and Jeremy told me there was five minutes left until the guys were due on stage. Anna and I cheered and I grinned at Summer.

"You're only here to watch Dan" I poked my tongue out at her and she responded by doing the same which caused us to laugh.

Before long I saw the guys bound onstage and the large crowd cheered as Max, Matt and Chris took their places with their guitars slung across their bodies and Dan sat down behind the drum kit as Josh waved at the crowd. They launched into Loverboy and Anna and I cheered as loud as possible before singing along at the top of our voices. I loved that song so much and sometimes thought it was a little short.

Then Josh announced the next song was Stay With Me and a chorus of voices rose up to sing along on the chorus as Adrian bounced up and down, which made me laugh while I tried my best to sing as loud as possible before the guitars died down so that Josh could talk.

"I can see a lot of you on people's shoulders. And I'm into that. So for this next song I want to see as many people as possible because this is a love song. It's No One Does It Better everyone" Josh said and the three of us cheered as Chris started playing. I saw Max look up and grin at us, so we all cheered, which made him shake his head but I could tell he was laughing, before Dan joined in on the drums.
