Chapter 36

"Lizzie you're not due to work until the night shift" Zac frowned when he saw us walk in. I shrugged at him and nodded.

"Yeah I know, I wanted to come in earlier and double check that everything was ready. Plus everyone wanted to get a booth since it would guarantee them somewhere to sit in case we get more people than usual tonight" I explained and Zac nodded before he walked me over to the usual booth where everyone had sat down.

"I ordered you a lemonade babe" Jeremy stated and I smiled before nodding at him.

"Thanks Jer" I replied and he smiled.

"Are you all ready for tonight then?" Zac asked from my right and I shrugged at him before sliding in next to Jeremy. My four band mates nodded at him and Zac grinned.

"Good. So what was with the text I received earlier Lizzie?" he asked, directing the question at me and I shrugged at him.

"We were having trouble picking songs, the more we thought the more songs we wanted to play" I sighed and Zac chuckled lightly before nodding.

"So are you playing more than four songs today then?" he asked and the five of us nodded, which made him smile. "I'm looking forward to it. Will you be okay to play at about half nine?" he asked and once again we all nodded before Zac walked away. I rolled my eyes and took a gulp of lemonade.

"So that means we have to work for an hour before we play" Jay groaned and I nodded.

"Yeah that's going to be real annoying" I sighed as James walked over, followed by his girlfriend.

I stood up and James hugged me before pulling away and I hugged his girlfriend, who was called Emily. She had dark hair, which I knew was about the same colour as what Louise's hair was, and big brown eyes to match. I'd gotten to know her the other night when I was working, as she was in the club with James and I found that she was very shy, but really cared about James. I could tell by the way she acted that she felt a little bit awkward, as of course the customers here talked and so she learned that James and I had been 'close' but I'd reassured her there was nothing between us.

"So then Liz, I hear you're performing again tonight?" James grinned and I shrugged, sending Emily a wink which made her shuffle awkwardly. Unlike me Emily didn't blush when she was embarrassed, but she did fidget a lot which I found funny.

"You heard right James" I shrugged and he frowned at my face.

"You look like shit. You're not drinking again are you?" he sighed and I glared at him before picking my drink up off the table.

"Does it smell like I'm drinking?" I retorted stiffly and held it out so that he could sniff my drink. He shrugged, holding his hands up to apologise and I rolled my eyes before returning my drink to the table.

"And thanks for that James, I feel so much better. You know I was working here late last night" I shrugged and he nodded in understanding.

"You didn't get much sleep then?" he asked and I shook my head before sitting back down next to Jeremy as James and Emily sat down on two of the empty stools.

"Lets just say it's been an exhausting day" I shrugged and Jeremy wrapped an arm around me to pull me closer to him. I didn't resist because I was too tired, plus it was comforting having his body pressed against mine. James nodded slowly before he sighed and I looked at Emily who was playing with James' fingers.

"Have I ever told you, that you two are a cute couple?" I asked and they both looked up at me in shock. I shrugged as I drank some more of my lemonade and they slowly shook their heads.

"Well you are" I stated when I'd swallowed my drink and they nodded as Emily shrugged.

"Well can you please tell everyone else that we're a couple and not fuck buddies" she sighed and I grinned.
