IN CROWD

Chapter VII

*Excuse all errors*

    It was Friday all the students were seated in the Auditorium awaiting the Principal speech. It was hot and congested. You could barely hear yourself there was so much chatter, Becca walks in looking for an empty seat in the back, she glance around seeing Omar waving at her. She walks over to them.
  She sat in the empty chair between Omar and Sammy, Renaldo sat beside Omar. "Why are we here?"she asks

  "We about to find out" Sammy says as he points to the principal walks to the podium. "Quiet down  students" the Auditorium got quiet.
Two uniform police joins Principal Hatchet on the podium. The Auditorium interrupted in more noise seeing the police. "I ain't do well with cops"Renaldo says

  "Please settle down, we are all gathered here for one particular reason and that being a video has been circulating around this school with one of our student in engaging in sexual misconduct, we still not sure if the other person in the video goes to this school. What we do know that child pornagraph is a crime and you could be charged if you were one the that filmed or you shared.

   The young lady in this video was rape and beaten, she was at a party with people she thought were her friends. Yet this is what happen to her the police is here to ask the students who attended the party; the following persons will go to the Chemistry lab and wait until they are called to be interviewed.

"I don't do well with cops" Renaldo says

"We don't have nothing to worry about we wasn't around Andrea the whole night"

"I wasn't even at the party, yet my name was called"

The principal finished addressing the assembly and this dismissed them by the time it ended it was lunch time. "I'm I glad that we did have maths or Spanish classes this morning, I didn't do my homework" Sammy says laughing.
The gang started laughing. They all went to lunch after lunch they all gathered outside the chemistry lab awaiting there turn. One by one they went in until it was Becca's turn.

  She didn't have much to say to cops since she wasn't at the party.

"State your name" one of the officers say.

"Don't we need attorney or our parents here to answer your questions"

"We got their consents,  state your name"

"Rebecca Steele"

"So Rebbeca Steele where were you Thursday night around 10, 10:30pm"

"At home asleep"

"Anyone can prove you were home that night"

"Yea the maid Clara was doing rounds that night she check in on me and you can check the security cameras my dad had them installed a few months ago".

Officers both nods while one wrote down on a notepad.

"Do you know anything about what happen that night"

"I only know what I saw on the in crowd Instagram page"

"Mind explaining what you mean by that"

"The in crowd are a selective group of students who host parties at their house and week the rest of the student body who attended the parties rate each and the winner gets crown the Party Animal or whatever don't know the details"

  The officer wrote that down as well, "who are the in crowd. Are you friends with any".

"I don't know them all. I'm not friends with any but acquaintances."she says

"Are you friends with the Vic"

"Was friends"

"Mind telling us why you are not friends"

"We had a fallen out"

"Was this before or after you set her up to get rape"

"What I did no such thing even though we are not friends I would never hurt her friends or not" she says getting worked up.

One of the officers stood up and starts pacing the room "we believe since you and the Vic was from different circles you were jealous of her popularity, the rich girl who didn't quite fit in and the girl from middle class family had everything you wish for, it's motive.

She was speechless "do I need my lawyer"

  She sat in her last for the day Social Studies, she still couldn't believe the police think she would have motive to do that to Andrea. She glance around the room, her classmates was busy doing the assessment the teacher handed out, she look down at her own paper and realize she hadn't answer none of the questions.

Focus Becca!

She look at the clock realizing she only had thirty minutes to finish the questions. She push all negative thoughts behind her and try to complete the task at hand. The bell rang and she hadn't finished the assessment. Sighing she placed her things in her bag and picking up her paper she walks up to the teacher's desk and placed the sheet with the rest.
   She glance around the crowd of students as they all made their way out of their classes, it was the end of the school day. She saw Omar and his friend outside. She took her phone out her bag along with her headphones. She placed it above her ears and listen to music hoping to pass the boys without they noticing her.

  Sammy grabs her arm, "hey, we were looking for you"

She smiles and took off her headphones "I went straight to class do police thinks I did it. They said I had motive".

"You wouldn't even kill the frog in science class how the hell could you have set that up" Renaldo says. " See why I don't deal with them they get in your head and play with your mind. Make you think you did and you ain't do shit" he continues.

She nods not even paying attention to Renaldo rants as she looks at her phone, she had another message from the unknown number.

Won't you take the fall for me...

She looks up frowning at the message and looking at the students passing some were busy on their phones, anyone of them could send her that message. Omar must have notice how quiet she was.

" Everything okay" he asks

She nods while sliding her phone back into her pocket, Omar's eyes were still fixed on her, he knew she was lying by the way she keep looking around but he didn't question it.
   How well did he know Rebbeca Steele, three weeks ago she was nobody to him and now she was kind of running in the same circle. Could she have hurt her own friend for her own selfish reasons.
"What I find weird is, the in crowd Instagram page was taking down; I mentioned it to the police and when I tried to show them it. It was deleted"Sammy says

"Someone has been sending me weird messages" Becca says

"Like what "Omar says with an arch brow she hands him her phone and he and his friends glance at it.
  "You need to take this to the police" Sammy says

"They won't believe and besides they already believe I did it, they might think I send it to myself because I didn't show it to them when they were questioning me."she says

"She is right" Renaldo says.

  Her phone rang, it was Andreas mom. She answered it. She listen as Miss Ross speaks to get like she was scared after about ten minutes she hangs up.

  "That was Andrea's mom, someone tried to break in there house"

"What, why" Omar asks

"To finished the job, that's why"Renaldo says.
