Kandi and I were sitting in my living room, scrolling through emails and other messages I got retaining to business. I mean, as my assistant, Kandi has been helping a great deal of a lot, especially when I missed a lot while I was away for those couple of weeks. I was reading through an email from an investor from East Asia when I felt my phone vibrate beside me. Marking my place in the email, I turned to look at my phone, instantly smiling when I saw the name.
Xing: what you doing?
Even though he only asked one question, I couldn't help but allow my smile to grow bigger.
Me: reading through emails, sadly
Xing: so you busy? I want see you
I pouted before sighing and responding back.
Me: i'm sorry. can we take a raincheck? i missed a lot last week
"Who are you busy over there texting? Cheesing and shit." Kandi said as she moved closer to me, looking over my shoulder and peering at my phone which I didn't even mind locking because I had absolutely nothing to hide.
I looked up at her and grinned, moving the phone closer so she could easily see it. "You two are getting pretty serious, hmm?" I looked back at my phone and sighed.
"We just do some shit. It's nothing." I said with a shrug.
"Are you sure he thinks it's just nothing too?" I sighed, locking my phone, seeing that he didn't respond just yet.
"I sure hope so." Kandi laughed before shaking her head.
"I don't think you are. I could hear y'all the other day." I felt my face heat up as I remembered that day in my office. "That sounded more than just sex and whatnot." I put my head in my hands and sighed. "Also, I walked in thirty minutes afterward to find you wrapped into his arms and he was holding onto you like his life depended on it."
"I don't know. I like what we're doing. It just feels a lot different than what all of my other shit with the men I fucked." I groaned. "What's wrong with me?"
"You want my honest opinion?" I nodded quickly, looking back up at her with a distraught look on my face. "I think you're catching feelings," she told me softly. I looked off to the side, letting the information she just told me, marinate in my brain then shook my head.
"That can't happen," I muttered. "How did this happen?"
"I mean, you both spend a lot of time together. Seeing each other in many ways than one, it was almost inevitable." I shook my head and groaned, thinking over and over about how this happened and what I could do.
"I can't catch feelings. What if he doesn't like me back? What if I fuck up? What if I-."
"Stop worrying about the what-ifs and just do it. I'm sure Xing feels the same way about you. I've seen the looks he's given you and the way he talks about you while you were gone. I bet you didn't know that he spoke to me before your little rendezvous in your office. The feelings are definitely mutual." I looked back at Kandi, sighing.
"Look, I can't say there's nothing to be nervous about because I know you. I know you don't do this, but maybe, just maybe, you can talk to him and get it done and over with. And if everything is fine, you two can make this work." I deeply inhaled before nodding.
"Now, go and call that boy and meet up tonight. I want some nieces and nephews soon." I nodded with a giggle before opening my phone back up.
Me: actually, would you like to go out
and eat something?
i'm starving
Immediately after the text was sent, I got one from Xing.
Xing: what is raincheck?
Xing: dinner? yes

We were sitting in a diner an hour later, my head down as I stared at the menu and I could feel Xing's eyes on me but I didn't look up until I was sure I knew what I was going to get. When I looked up at him, I saw his eyes sparkle with what I've grown to know as mischief. "No!" I scolded him quietly. In return, he smiled, shaking his head.
"I no know what you talk about," he spoke, shifting in his seat. I shook my head with a smile then looked around.
"This place is adorable," I muttered.
"Not as adorable as you." I turned back to look at him and winked before laughing.
"You're so corny. I despise that I like it." I told him with a huge grin on my face. He reached across the table, and grabbed my hand, rubbing it with his thumb for a couple of seconds then flipped it over so he could look at my palm.
"You think you get marry one day?" he asked. I allowed my eyes to flicker up to his and I raised my eyebrow.
"Haha, what?"
"Just ask question. Not asking you marry me. I just want know." I shifted in my seat, moving my hand away from his and shrugged.
"I don't know what I want. I never really thought much about that." I told him honestly.
"Every girl I grew with say they want marry and have kids but you different than them girls." I stared at him silently. "You deal with me and make me happy. I like your smile and laugh."
"Where are you going with this, Xing?" I asked, nervously. He sighed, shrugging.
"Haruki tell me just ask but I not know how."
"Ask what?"
"Want date with me?" I stared at him wide-eyed for a minute before raising my eyebrow.
"You wanna date me?" I asked.
"I tell Haruki that I like being with you and holding you and touching you and seeing you smile. He tell me I like you. Then I tell him I sleep and see you and he tell me I really like you. But he no like you though." I giggled, already knowing that Haruki didn't like me, but the first part of what he was saying was new to me.
"You dream about me?" he nodded slowly.
"I want you be by me, Bili. I no like when we not near. I no like when a man look at you like he want you. I want you be mine and me be yous." I stared at him for a second, digesting his words carefully.
"Are you sure? I want this to work too but I'm not the best at these things and we're just going to have to teach each other and learn how to make this work." I whispered. Xing smiled brightly, moving from his seat so he was sitting beside me and pressed a kiss to my cheek.
"I love learning by you." I grinned, turning to face him and kissed him slowly, blocking out the sounds of the busy diner and just savoring the moment. That was until I heard someone clear their throat. I pulled away from Xing, looking back towards the sound and seen a very annoyed waitress.
"How can I help you two love birds today?" I didn't even get a chance to answer before I felt Xing's hands on my thighs, rubbing the area gently and he responded. I already knew this was going to be a long night.
