Faith's POV

I woke up in bed alone after getting up from my nap. Some of you may think I forgave to easily, but I never told him that I did. I don't know how to feel about it. Obviously I'm upset that he hit me, but even more so because he felt bold enough to do it in front of our children.

We've had some intense yelling matches in the past with each other, but never to the extent of us putting our hands on each other. That slap shocked the hell out of me and I knew he regretted it. Dave is a really soft and gentle guy with me and the children. His mind just wasn't all the way there to think before he reacted.

He and I have been through way too much for me to up and leave him over a slap that didn't even leave a mark or hurt other than it stinging a little bit. It shocked me more than anything.

I got up and walked into the bathroom to pee. After I handled that and washed my hands, I checked to see if the kids were in their rooms, but they weren't. I proceeded to go downstairs to find them. I want to talk to them about their dad hitting me and to assure them that I'm okay.

I found the four of them in the basement watching a movie. Well the twins and Kairi were watching while Kaiden was on his phone. I'm sure Kairi would be on hers too, but we know why that's not the case.

"Hey pause this." I told them while taking a seat on the couch and Kairi paused it. "Where's Dave?"

"He said he had to step out somewhere, but he'd be back soon. That was like thirty minutes ago." Kairi answered in a respectable tone.

"Okay well I wanted to talk to you guys. You two come over here." I said to the twins who were still sitting close to the tv. "You're not supposed to be sitting that close anyway, right?" They nodded and sat on the couch beside Kaiden.

"Dad already talked to us about the situation." Kaiden said before I started talking.

"I figured. I just wanted to make sure you guys were okay. Your dad has never hit me before today, so I don't want y'all looking at him any differently. He apologized to me as well and I'm okay. See. Nothing on my face." I turned my head to show proof. "But if you guys say that you're okay then that's all that matters to me."

They nodded and went back to watching their movie. I tapped Kairi and gestured my head towards the entrance of the basement. It's time to have this sit down.

We got upstairs and walked to the living room and sat beside each other. It was silent for a second until she spoke. "I'm really sorry, ma." She said and I could hear the hurt in her voice. I know she didn't mean for this to turn out like this.

"My feelings are hurt, Kairi. I thought I was doing everything right-"

"You are!" She interrupted me. "I was just- I was being a brat and disrespected the only mother figure and mother that I have. I'm so sorry."

"I forgive you, Kai and like I said before, I'm not mad at you. I just want to know where all the hostility was coming from?"

She sighed and played with her fingers, looking down. "My birth mother reached out to me the other day on Instagram. She said she got a new number and that's why I wasn't able to get in contact with her. Sure." She rolled her eyes when she mumbled the last part. "Then she apologized for her absence and said that she's ready to turn over a new leaf. She wants to start fresh, which is what I want too. I want my mom in my life, but I'm hesitant because what if this is like the last time, and the time before that?"
