Kairi's POV

"I'm studying. What do you want?" I asked Daniel since he just called me.

"I was wondering if you wanted something to eat but never mind. I guess you still mad at me."

"Sure am." Now usually I don't turn down food but I don't want nothing from him at this moment.

I caught him texting his ex. I didn't see the content of their messages. Only her name but why is he still in contact with her. They're not friends and have nothing to discuss.

We decided to stop playing games and get together. He treats me right and I really do like him. Besides him being sneaky.

"I told you those messages were nothing."

"So tell me what they were about." There was silence on his end. Again. "Look I gotta go. Bye." I hung up then focused back on my notes.

My first exam is in a couple of days and I need to do good. The semester started a month ago so Ella and I are back in Tallahassee. It's my junior year. That's crazy. It's really been two years since I was a freshman.

I studied for another hour before my head started hurting and I had to walk away. I decided to call my mom since it was a little after 5.

"Is this important?" She answered my FaceTime call with a little attitude.

"Well dang. Sorry for bothering you with my friendship." I scrunched my eyebrows together. The hell did I do?

"Do you need something?" She asked me but put her phone down quickly then I heard a smacking noise. "I said no. Now go sit down." She didn't yell but you can tell she was serious.

I heard Imani start screaming and crying. Oh I know she got popped. "Ma I'll talk to you later." I said. I don't want to bother her or piss her off.

"No." She picked up her phone and sighed. "What's up? How was your day?"

"My day was good. How was yours?" She looks tired.

"Umm not too good. Imani has been having tantrums all day and she's working my last nerve." She rubbed her temples. She looks like she's been crying but I don't want to ask in case it triggers her.

"When does daddy get back?"

"Tomorrow I think. I'm not sure."

My dad went to New York to help my grandparents finish packing. He still has quite a few things there so he has to pack his stuff up too.

My grandparents are moving to Miami. I don't know where they're staying but if I know mom the way I do, I know they're not staying at the house and she's not paying for where they're living.

"Hold on Kai I'll have to call you later. Your sister is trippin today. I love you." She said. I barely got to respond before she hung up.

Just as she hung up, the front door was being knocked on. I looked through the peephole to see Ella's "friend".

"Ella! Egypt is here." I called out and was about to open the door.

"No! Don't open it!" She said quickly when she came out of her room.
