"Hey, beautiful." Frank said, plopping next to him on the couch and kissing his cheek.
Gerard barely looked up at him from his sketchbook. "Hm?"
"What are you drawing?" He asked, looking down at the dark haired man with a futuristic looking gun on his hip and a ghoulish monster mask in his hand.
"A character." Gerard turned his face and gently kissed Frank on the lips. "Are your parents gone yet?"
"They're leaving for the festival any minute." Frank leaned back on the couch and held his chin up on his palm, hiding his mischievous grin behind his fingers. "Why?"
"I just can't wait to get you alone." Gerard said nonchalantly, looking back to his sketch. "That's all."
Frank looked at him with longing in his eyes, but he could hear his parents talking upstairs, so he did nothing.
It had been a week since Frank came out to his parents.
Alongside barely speaking to him and giving him the cold shoulder when he spoke to them, they weren't leaving him alone. They used to be respectful of Frank and his privacy, but not anymore. He used to be able to do whatever he wanted, and they wouldn't care, but now he practically needs to show his mother a caller ID before ordering a fucking pizza.
The only time Frank and Gerard have together is late into the night, sneaking into each other's rooms to talk or kiss or cuddle before needing to return to their own beds, because Frank's mother had started coming to get Frank up in the mornings. Not that anyone had asked her to.
As fucking funny as her expression would be if they were caught in bed together, innocent or not, Frank and Gerard would be on the street before breakfast time was over at a Chick-Fil-A.
There isn't much they can do in public without getting kicked out, so their only choice is to wait for times that his parents leave to have a few hours alone.
Frank wanted to cuddle up next to Gerard and kiss him until they couldn't breathe, but the risk with his parents being home was just too high. Frank couldn't get kicked out. He had no where to go.
What made the torture of separation worse, was that they had less than a month before Gerard was leaving, and the days seemed to be zipping past like passing a stopped car on the interstate.
Gerard looked over from his sketchbook at Frank's absolute downer of an expression and smiled reassuringly, but Frank couldn't bring himself to shine back with a real smile. He was too lost in his thoughts of how unbearable his life will become once Gerard leaves.
"It'll be okay, mon cheri." Gerard grabbed Frank's hand and gently ran his thumb over his knuckles. "We can talk once they leave."
Frank squeezed Gerard's hand back and bit his lip with a small smile, looking down at the couch. He really loved when Gerard called him that.
"Frank, we're leaving!" His mother called from upstairs. "We'll be back later."
"Okay!" He sighed in relief, dropping his head back to the couch.
"No funny business!" She said, using that motherly sternness that he had learned to hate.
"Okay!" He yelled, attitude giving him a snippy sound.
Gerard squeezed his hand again, and shook his head at him.
Frank sighed quietly and called out again, this time with less irritation. "Bye mom, see you tonight!"
