Background!!!
At age 6, Ryūko's father began instructing her in alchemy. She was virtually a proficient after a few months. She could remedy things pretty easily and be able to make anything easier. Even though she was decent at it, her mother had problems. She had another child, Hoshimi, and she didn't want her to get into alchemy. So she made sure the two weren't concurrently, barely to even eat and sleep.

Subsequently, two years later,
Ryūko was 8 while Hoshimi was 4. Maemi also had another child, the last girl, which was Koemi. Hoshimi was as delighted as ever, dwelling in a world where her older sister appeared to not prevail. Whilst Ryūko was nose down into alchemy books with her two friends, Edward and Alphonse Elric. Her father also had his nose stuck in a book, but for the military.

2 years after Ryūko's father got home, Edward and Alphonse's mother had withered. Understanding she was such a competent alchemist for her age, Ryūko took on the job to help them get their mother back. But one thing that Edward did mistake caused a huge setback. Edward forfeited his right arm and left leg, Alphonse sacrificed his whole body, and Ryūko lost both her arms.

At age 15, Edward and Alphonse set out, scorching their house down and fleeing. At the same time, Ryūko's mother departed with Hoshimi for the city. But sadly, the train got caught with some bad people. They didn't live to tell the tale. Right after, Nobuo departed for the city as well, but for the military. Due to Ryūko being the stubborn person she is, she packed her bags, grabbed the 7-year-old Koemi and leaving. She did what her friends did, burning the house down and heading into the city.

After a week Ryūko slipped into the military with the help of a family friend. She set up a small house where she would teach Koemi as much as she could, basically becoming a teen mom. She successfully got her military work done, kept Koemi safe and taught her, as well as made sure they could live a good life for the time being.

A month later, something came up with the military. Ryūko had to go and take care of something which would take at least a few months. Her usual missions would only take a day or two, so leaving Koemi at home for that few days she would be ok. But now that she would be gone for a few months, it could be a bad hassle. Koemi was still only 7, didn't go to any school, had no other family nearby, couldn't pay for anything around the house, and really didn't have any friends.

So after a few days of thinking, Ryūko found a military officer that could look after her little sister. So she got everything, dropped off Koemi, said one last goodbye, and then headed off on the mission.
